Tapper like Megan Kelly , Hannity,, Joe Sacr, La-La ingraham to David Brooks and Joe Rogan are not journalists reporters. They ae entertainers and not very good at it.
They take news reports and slant a it, dramatize it, use it to point blame, etc..
Colbert, Kimmel are entertainers that are not journalists and take reported news and entertain with i. Except they are very entertaining.
When we have wealthy people buy news organizations to park their money and "PLAY" editor not truth seeker. It is first and foremost their business to use as a power for their gain. Not about discovery, educating the public who is willing to pay for such an ideal. At least in the past.
It is not just the digital rise that hurt news papers. It is their organizational direction change to protecting the comfortable and condemning the uncomfortable. To use it to propagandize the public.
You cannot do that without paid lying assholes. Which I do not subscribe to read nor tune in to watch and listen.
There is nothing wrong with listening to opinions on reported news. I simply have standards which it must be beneficial, thought provoking and earnest sincerity.
The pay day receptors will have to make ddue with the village idiots. Which creates a entirely new problem.
When I first found out about Mark Halperin, I was appalled, having mistaken him for the author Mark Helprin, who wrote a book called Winter's Tale. I knew that Mr. Helprin had right wing leanings, and apparently wrote a speech for Bob Dole that was described as sounding like spun gold coming out of Dole's mouth, so when I heard of a shitty right wing commentator named Mark Halperin I was afraid that he was the author whose book I had liked. Imagine my relief when I found out it wasn't him. There. I said something good about Mark Halperin.
That's about all the complimentary words I can manage for the media just now.
Their king worship comes hand in hand with their desire to prove that anyone with expertise is a fraud and thus any of them could do anything just as well. You'd think that none of these despicable fucks ever had a medical issue.
Oh, and speaking of medical issues, I had a nurse come all the way out here in the boonies several times to check up on me after my hospital stay last summer. She was awesome. She had me pull up my lab results on this laptop and proceeded to explain them to me in detail. I got more useful information out of that than I got from any of the several doctors who cared for me at the hospital. She also described what it was like being a traveling nurse during the pandemic. She said she would go and visit folks who had been discharged from the hospital having survived covid, only to come back a month later and find four or five of the other residents of the house dead. Over and over.
Thank you again for the podcast. Our cat has an outdoor lifestyle, which may or may not become a problem when we move to Miranda where there are foxes and bears...
