Ep 908: The Big Clock Is Ticking
NOTE: The shocking news of Senator Alex Padilla being forcibly removed and handcuffed at a Kristi Noem press conference simply for trying to ask questions as an elected official? We cover that in the news round-up.
In this week's episode, we take a brief break from documenting Republican authoritarianism to explore the 1948 film noir masterpiece "The Big Clock," but quickly return to the fascist dumpster fire by introducing you to Bo Loudon, an 18-year-old MAGA influencer who represents the toxic roots of today's Republican party through his grifter family's Mar-a-Lago connections and reality TV fame. We also cover the latest authoritarian nightmares, plus we celebrate the few voices of truth still speaking out against this madness.

Briana is up here for a minute so we went down to the No Kings rally in Oakhurst today. We have attended three out of the four (that we know of) rallies that have happened there this year, and this was the biggest one so far.
We went to the Oakhurst Business Center and had them print out a line drawing of a T-Rex, that Briana taped to some foam board and colored with some highlighters (orange head, pink toes) and captioned "T-Rump"...
The employees at the OBC weren't put out at all in assisting us with our dirty hippie commie display, and all in all the best six bucks I've spent in a while.
I also hear that Da Pope was in Chicago wearing a White Sox hat, so more counter programming for the fascist parade in DC, where the latest weather forecast was calling for light rain.
So Gavin Reptile made a couple of speeches in response to the spasm of fascism in LA, and while they did sound nice, he was a bit over his lizard-skis on the last one, as the ninth circuit has delayed the return of control over the National Guard past the Monday that he was crowing about, and if I, an aging hippie outlaw who walks with a quad-cane, knew that would happen, I would hope the goddamn governor would also.
Am I a bad person for laughing my ass off at the firehose of crises all soaking Fergus down at once? Or the way he has had his fat, orange ass handed to him on every one? Sure, his authoritarian takeover of the country is still a live issue, but the way that Bibi used him and cast him off like a dirty Kleenex was a genuinely amusing aspect of a goddamn war breaking out in the middle east, and that's not nothing.
Thank you again for the podcast. Yesterday in the grocery store, a guy with short white hair walked up to me and started a conversation about my pony tail. Seems he just cut his off last week after all of these years. Can't talk about pony tails without talking about electric guitars, apparently, and that's where the conversation went and stayed for a long time considering we were grocery shopping. It felt kinda good to still be recognizable as a rock and roller this late in life.

By now you should realize that Deeply religious Kristi Noem republican. Did not shoot dead her puppy cricket for being threatening. She shot it because she perceived Cricket as being democratic.
She perceives democratic senators in the same manner.
And her deeply personal religious republican beliefs, Her GOD. Allows her to bear false witness. As long as it is of her feared democratic threats.
