I'm with Pete Townshend on how to deal with their religion

We're not gonna take it, never did and never will
Don't want no religion and as far as we can tell
We ain't gonna take you, never did and never will
We're not gonna take you, we forsake you, gonna rape you
Let's forget you better still

Which I'll admit is a bit optimistic when applied to today's MAGAdonians, but I really do believe the underlying concept to be solid: once they start asking the Pig People to downgrade the decor in their sties and show up for shifts supporting the billionairiest billionaires around, they will have entered the "and the mob turned against them" zone.
That's if their orange grift-god even lives long enough to be rejected, which is not a sure bet.
I was saved and baptized in the Calvary Baptist Church in Eureka when I was 11, if I remember it correctly. It was a combination of my older sister and her friends attending and encouraging me to go and the album Jesus Christ Superstar that got me to put on my nice clothes on Sunday after my morning paper route.
A couple of things about that: First, being saved left a big impression on me, because there was an undeniable feeling brought on by walking up in front of the congregation and receiving all of that good attention. I could almost convince myself that it was Jesus. Later on, I discovered rock concerts and felt I had a better understanding of those strong feelings.
And second, my baptism was kind of a bust. That church had the baptismal (is that what it is called?) above and behind the pulpit, with a window to the congregation, so that the lights could be dimmed in the church and brightened in the little room with the tank, so that the congregation could easily watch the baptism. I entered the little room and stepped down into the tank with the pastor, who then said something I didn't really hear and grabbed me and dunked me. I wasn't ready and got water up my nose and came up spluttering, which wasn't ideal for a baptism. Then I went back down the stairs to the other little room to change out of my wet clothes, where the pastor's son started hitting on me. Now don't get me wrong about this, had it been the pastor's daughter instead, there most probably would have been an entirely different outcome, and I was in no sense of the word "traumatized" by these events. And they really didn't have much of an effect towards making me the atheist I am (that was mostly the product of finding out that Carlos Castaneda was actually writing fiction).
Dealing not with the religion, but the church, is what I see as our main task.
Thank you again for the podcast. I caught a damn cold that Briana brought back from Oakland, but the sun is out up here, and the cat is pretending that he's a solar powered beast...
