The Soviet author Solzhenitsen spent years as a political prisoner and eventually exile in the US thought that what the USSR needed was a benevolent despot. In a fairy-tale world that might be the perfect solution, but despite are a dime a dozen while competent, benevolent despots are as easy to find as unicorns.
I saw a benevolent despot drinking a Pina Colada at Trader Vics--his hair was suspect.
Is this really a daddy issue, or, they just don't wanna' do the work of being a citizen by having to pay attention to politics and finance, or some combo of these two?

Completely disagree with the notion right wing wants authoritarianism.
What they want is basically a government that will punish people they do not like and for themselves, being given special privileges to live the libertarian ideological life. You know, They can infringe on your freedom but not theirs. They can kill you with their Gins of freedom but not you.
They can rob you and if you file complain and seek justice. It will be you the law will punish.
Need I explain further. ?
Oh sure, there are billionaires that want complete immunity from everything but they do not want people like the health cae CEO shooter to be lawful. They can steal from you through their companies but if you rob their bank. That is a serious crime and there is no cash settlements to be made with no non disclosures to be signed.
Those republicans who just want everyone to obey their religious laws or the lawless ones. They do not want the same things but are convinced otherwise.
If they wanted authoritarianism, as far as they were concerned. That is what Biden was accused of by them and they rejected that too.
The Bullwark is more like the Dung spreader.
It is billionaire brain washing that will never fit together and make reasonable sense in a brain washed skull.
