Ep 879 The Oligarchy Comes For The Press
In this episode of The Professional Left Podcast, we dive into the Trump administration's continuing assault on American democracy and institutions.
We start with our "News Roundup," covering the DOGE cuts, government firings, and acts of resistance within federal agencies. We also discuss Trump's controversial "Gold Card" citizenship program, the shocking U.S. vote against a U.N. resolution condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the purge of top military leadership, and the numerous legal challenges to the administration's actions.
We then turn our attention to media capitulation, examining MSNBC's firing of on-air personalities of color and The Washington Post's transformation under Jeff Bezos into what we describe as "the Amazon corporation house organ."
We also critique "Independent Centrists" and their failed attempts to create movements based on the fallacy of "extremes on both sides." We argue that these efforts are marketing solutions to ideological problems that can never succeed.
We conclude with a thoughtful discussion of effective messaging strategies for Democrats. We weigh approaches that focus on democracy versus kitchen table issues and emphasize the importance of being proud Democrats with a clear vision.

In the midst of all the make America like Somalia.
Even though we see GOP congress critters roasted or avoiding face to face town halls. Is a sign they have become the spitting image of the Russian DO<MA. Their version of our congress. They are placed in there roles with a script to say yes to anything Putin demands. The DOMA wit Putin never once voted in opposition of Putin. As our GOP.
All the damage and harm Elmo's Ketamine riddled brain combined with Trump's disgruntled dementia.
How do we recover if we can rid ourselves of this hateful ruling overlords.?
Once Hoover was beat in election by FDR. FDR had 5 terms to build and improve America for Americans. But presidents now can only serve two terms now. It will take more than an 8 year president along with majorities in House and senate. Not to forget the stacked court with 6 federalist that rule on law how their billionaire masters tell them.
Asking my GOP representatives.
As my sole representative does your personal religious beliefs supersede mine when legislating? How does it work under 1st Amendment Gov. shall not establish religion and the freedom of religion.

Asking for face to face town halls with all this going on. Speaker Johnson said, paid agitators going to town halls as excuse for his GOP members to not have town halls. I assure my Rep. that I am a constituent in district and not a paid hack and demand a town hall face to face.
The press reports all the congressmen have town halls. This is not true.

JBP is really communicating well, in every clip I have seen of him.
It is true that convincing people that democracy is in peril is difficult, and there seems to be a right-biased self-selection process on it, as right wing media does it all of the damn time.
Indivisible started as an attempt to use what they saw the tea party do to the presidency of Barack Obama against the first Fergus administration, and they seem to know what they're talking about having been congressional staffers when all of that bullshit went down. I would be more likely to consider their message on the subject than the message of anyone involved with the actual tea party, in all of its obvious dishonesty.
So now the damn fool has officially thrown in with Putin against Ukraine. Not surprising, really, and more about retribution for his first impeachment than any of the higher crimes such a move can be accurately described as. That does not, in fact, negate those crimes, and he should not be allowed one single day where he is not made to answer for them.
Thank you again for the podcast. We managed to not buy anything yesterday, even though we usually shop on Fridays.
If we weren't so poor, we wouldn't buy anything from Amazon, but buying foodstuffs by the case is how we afford to eat here in California with SSDI as our only income.
