The Governing Party...

...versus the Groveling Party.

Democracy versus Fascism.

Realism versus Madness.

Justice versus Lawlessness.

Peace versus Insurrection.

Those are the choices that are on the table today and wishing it were otherwise will not make it so.

And yet, in these closing days of 2023, when there is no longer any doubt what the stakes are and who is on which side, "independents" and "swing voters" still can't make up their minds.

Are the independent and swing voters being polled )asked), How do they view the democrats not bailing out McCarthy to remain as speaker?
Or, Why won't the democrats stop blocking the Jim Jordan from becoming speaker?

This media contention that it is the responsible thing for the Democrats to put a republican in the majority over the top to be speaker . It is the minority Democratic obligation. Why aren't they doing what republicans want them to do? Isn't it the Dems duty to serve the GOP majority?

How did George Soros get to the republican holdouts of Jordan's rise to the throne.
Why won't the GOP nominate George Santos ( or whatever name he goes by now), for speaker? I mean Jordan failed upwards in the house GOP like failing his bar exam and then placed as chairman of the judiciary committee? So why can't George Santos get a nomination and a vote for speaker? Heck, Hastert made it.

Let me pose this (it is not my idea).
* as House GOP blame Dems for the chaos Halloween headless speaker majority where no people's business can happen.

* House GOP blame democrats for having no speaker.

* House GOP then say the government shutting down for no speaker to be able to do business at the Democrats hands. The shut down is the Democrats fault.?

GOP shuts down government without taking blame...

* * Under the rules McCarthy put in place of one person can call to vacate a speaker. Can one person call to vacate the speaker-protem?
* If they canot fill the speakership. Can the house GOP nominate and vote for a Speaker Protem if they don't care for the present McHenry?

As the founding Fathers did not intend or foresee political parties. They surely did not foresee a political house majority that could not fulfil its constitutional duty selecting a Speaker.

The question the press should be asking is, now that Jordan is unwanted as speaker because he is an incompetent legislator, unable to play with others, and a political terrorist. He is too extreme partisan for the party to be speaker.
How do they justify returning him to the judiciary as chairman? Again, he failed his bar exam and McCarthy still placed him as judiciary chairman.

Has anyone received marching orders to call and threaten their Democratic representatives for not voting for Jordan?

That Gaetz photo reminds me of that other one of Trump behind the wheel of, I think, a firetruck. He had that face a four-year-old makes when they think they're cool. And now we need a firetruck to put out the House. I hate these people.

And for even more fun, there's now a growing faction of people making social media videos in which they've unveiled their new Purity Test: They are pledging to withhold their votes from any Democrat who does not agree to cut off all funding to Israel (over the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians in the wake of the Hamas attacks), and urging others to do the same. They seem not to have thought this through. If the Republicans were to take over the government as a result of this strategy, cutting off funding to Israel would be the LAST thing they'd do. All these mopes would have accomplished would be the destruction of their own country. But hey, I'm sure their sense of Moral Superiority will be a great comfort to them as they're being marched into the camps.

The one time I greed with Ann Coulter was during the 2000 election when she said that undecideds were stupid.a

Well I have no use for Ann either, but you can update your agreement system. Here's her latest;

While speaking with WOR radio host Mark Simone, Coulter said that GOP lawmakers were "complete idiots".
"I also want to say I think these Republicans are complete idiots," Coulter told Simone toward the end of the show Wednesday. "The Speaker of the House—when you have a very slim majority in the House, when the Senate is in Democrat hands, when the presidency is in Democrats hands—it doesn't matter who the Republican speaker is."

I don't agree with all that but the feeling is right.

Those videos are either being made and pushed by Russians or by the trio of idiots who ALWAYS starts yapping whenever I Israel is mentioned -- ignore them and they will disappear.

I hate to be that guy, but shouldn't your last comparison be Peace vs Insurrection>

The explanation I've settled on is that to swing/independent voters, politics is a boring reality show that has no real impact on their lives. You pair that with the great American tradition (from Twain to Carlin) of mocking and denigrating politicians, especially those faraway federal government politicians, and you get voters basing their choice on who is most entertaining. That and taxes. At least this describes my family of Trump supporters.

I do not think that even a $3 trillion dollars tax cuts for the wealthy and Trillions in bail outs for lost profits to the wealthy who own the corporations could resolve the House republicans.

If you hadn't noticed in the senate. Which has it's Lying Red, Lindsey clutch my pearls, McConnell the grim Reaper, Marsha Blackburn of Being Godly through beauty products, The Ex CO who frauded Medicare of the greatest amount in history, and the republican that ran and won as a democrat in Virginia Manchin. Peter Theil's executive penis washer JD Vance. The Senate is almost the house.

Think of those billionaires that fund the GOP and how they spend their tax cuts on these misfits to get elected.

Morning DG and BG!

You know what's funny, not ha-ha funny but OH COME ON funny, to me?

The media was all in on Democrats having committed an error by not saving Kevin McCarthy’s Speakership*. Yet now, as Republican after Republican openly admits that they will never, under any circumstances, even consider working with Democrats… why don’t those same questions go the other way?

* = in fairness, a few voices have noted that the Democrats’ strategy of letting the GOP sink itself seems to be working, and even appropriate for the time. But the lack of symmetry here is telling, IMO.

I am stunned and appalled that anyone, any American citizen, still trusts the legacy outlets for political news any more. The bias is staggeringly obvious.

Thanks for all y'all do.

Robert Parry started ConsortiumNews .com, in 1995, the first independent news website.
Today CN announces it is suing the USGovernment for unconstitutional defamation of free-speaking internet writers, which means YOU.
