Professional Left Podcast #659

"The reason men oppose progress is not that they hate progress, but that they love inertia." -- Elbert Hubbard

Ep 659: Happy Birthday Bluegal!

July 14, 2022

July 16 is Bluegal/Fran's birthday! Takeaways from the seventh January 6 hearing. Driftglass takes over the bible b*tch to take on Psalm 137 as literature and (political) lesson. Bluegal wonders how "everybody knows" right wing militia were ready for Civil War. And a certain sh*tposting "leftist" tries to lie about the Illinois governor and Driftglass has words about that. "I know that's not vinaigrette, Pedro!"

I'm having a horrible day today, and this made me smile and laugh. Thank you very much for that - and for all your good work and words.

You guys (BG and DG) are awesome. Really, thank you. Keep doing what you're doing.

Also (the above comment is me too):

"Liar, liar, pants on fire," and "Do your jobs! Your job is the general welfare, health and safety of all of us, and you're not doing it!" <- These phrases apply almost equally to US mass media. They're not responsible for legislation, but they are responsible to accurately inform, and they are derelict in that duty beyond any power of word to tell.

Happy birthday Blue Gal. I think this is also my friend Matt's birthday, and as he is a couple of years younger than I am, you may have been born on the actual same day.
We have been having weird car trouble also, weird in that Briana wasn't actually killed in the accident that totaled the car, and is on the mend enough to be down in the East Bay getting looked at by the excellent folks at Highland Hospital to see whether her broken bones are mending properly.
Also there is some story about our friend Rob and a Mazda and a turbo that is being installed and the possibility that we may have transportation again in time for my grand jury summons next month. I would hate to have to blow off a grand jury summons and have something in common with Steve Bannon (except that my summons is to serve on the jury, not testify to it).
Wouldn't it be cool if we somehow managed to hold onto the house and picked up two seats in the senate and could tell Manchin and Sinema that we really don't care what they think or which bill they won't vote for?
Thank you again for the podcast. Today is the big community meeting/party and I think I'm gonna stay home and play my Les Paul...

I don't think Sirota has gone the way of Greenwald yet. He still does some good work but I usually double check what he is saying because he tends to be a bit much to self serving.
