Some of my favorite characters from Babylon 5... I'm sure it's true, nothing short of a Vorlon Planetkiller or a Shadow vessel could penetrate McConnell's self-regard.
Not even sure where this is coming from. Those of us who live in Red America have been living the truth you cite for all ours years (and I've started counting my sixth decade at the moment, so).

The bitter part is that these folks aren't actually stupid. Thinking that is a terrible place to start. They're functioning humans who pay bills and drive cars (and, fucking unfortunately, vote with literal religious fervor). They're not stupid. They're enormously self-interested, completely cynical, and unfailingly dismissive of anyone outside their bubble. But, sometimes unfortunately, they're not stupid.
To quote Liss McEwan from memory: these people aren't misguided. They're mean.
And to quote - I think - Wonkette: The Founders foresaw a man like Donald Trump. They didn't foresee a man like Mitch McConnell.
Well, you can get through the MAGA crowd...if you pay all several million of them to watch CNN for a couple of months, and force them to take notes on what they saw.
But since that'd be a very expensive, and admittedly creepy, project, we're screwed.
I have been employing your definition of these people as "dead losses" since I read it in one of your posts a million years ago.
Yet there are still people who say "We have to COMPROMISE". It hurts.
