OK, Briana says that those guys who interviewed Fergus on their podcast were making fun of him and using the traffic he generated to raise money to give away on other podcasts. She told me their name but I don't remember and she's upstairs talking to Zsuzs, who is still mourning her cat.
Me, if I never hear anything else about Fergus again it will be too soon.
I'm glad your governor is working out well for you. I got a text from my governor's campaign team yesterday asking what it would take to get me to donate to them. I didn't respond because what's the point? But if I had, the response would have sounded something like: "What would it take? I don't really know, but perhaps if you had sent one of those $600 in state covid relief checks to residents on SSDI as their only income, you know, the folks who actually needed it, I might have had an extra five bucks to shoot your way after I get Briana's car registered."
The goddamn Republicans are now just openly in favor of killing women. We all knew that they were kind of leaning that way toward the women they can't manage to own outright, but now the damn fools are trying to make it a crime to "abort" an ectopic pregnancy.
Briana had an ectopic pregnancy, and had the emergency surgery been a half hour later, it would have been too late to save her. No ectopic pregnancy has ever or will ever result in a live birth. A live birth requires a goddamn uterus, and ectopic pregnancies are when the fertilized egg implants somewhere other than the uterus.
Wherever that happens to be, usually a Fallopian tube, will be destroyed by the expanding zygote, and the hemorrhage will kill the woman without immediate emergency surgery.
But the supposed re-implantation of an ectopic pregnancy is a favorite Republican conspiracy theory among the forced birth crowd.
It is perhaps theoretically possible to deliberately cause an ectopic pregnancy in a specific woman who happens to be the specific right kind of fertile for implantation, perform surgery on her, and implant the fertilized egg in her uterus, but even with everything controlled and chosen to be favorable to the procedure, the chances of it being successful are very low at best. It will literally never, ever happen to a woman who gets an ectopic pregnancy because those cells require the uterus to implant into to turn from a zygote into a fetus.
"Christ, you idiots!" Briana just said upon reading the above paragraph.
Thank you again for the podcast. The snow has mostly melted, and I didn't have to wear the spikes on my shoes to walk up to the pond today. I do hope more precipitation is on the way, though, as this has been one of the driest winters ever, and the fire season will be exacerbated by the vegetation that grew in response to the early snow last winter.
