According to the New York Times, of the 1,000 folks who live the closest to me, 71% of them are Republicans. That means that statistically speaking, seven out of a hundred of my neighbors believe the country is run by cannibalistic pedophiles, and more than four in ten of them believe at least one core Q-anon conspiracy theory.
I wonder how David the fuck Brooks thinks I should navigate my interpersonal relations with my neighbors in light of those statistics?
Actually, no, I couldn't be made to care what he thinks about that at gunpoint, but I think you understand what I'm saying about him and his bullshit advice.
Every jackass newswriter and their intern is writing about the possible downside of Gavin Reptile's "let's Texas law the guns" proposal, and not one that I have read has gotten around to explaining that the whole purpose of the proposal has nothing to do with guns but everything to do with giving the gocddamn wingnut SCOTUS the empirical evidence they need to kick the Texas law that is quickly metastasizing to every other goddamn red state to the legal curb.
And on that subject, last night I heard a very interesting factoid about how far down the shitter the senate has gone: Dianne Feinstein's assault weapons ban passed the senate with a simple majoriity in 1994.
Yeah, the email I got from Indivisible this morning was angry and all "we told you this would happen, and you promised us fifty votes, now deliver them please" and "don't worry, we're not giving up, but call your damn senators."
Roger Ailes should serve as a goddamn role model for Rupert Murdoch in that he's fucking dead. That wouldn't fix Fox News, though, and I don't know of anything else that could. Perhaps it's something that America has to grow out of or die trying...
Thank you again for the podcast. Briana is up in Humboldt County getting the house there ready for habitation, there's half a foot of snow on the ground, and if I time it just right I may be able to get an Instacart delivery the day before the snow starts again and thus enable the safety of the delivery person and my groceries on the stairs and path up from the road to my little room.
