"...Behind every fortune is a big old fucking crime." I paraphrase Mr. Chandler in order to describe the two types of people who seem to be populating the republican party: The less than one percent that have engaged in massive crimes to attain their massive fortunes. They seem to be willing to dump gasoline on a baby to make another dollar. The rest of the republican party, that wholly admires the less than one percenters, seeks to emulate them so they can be rich and fuck over the rest of the people regardless of party affiliation. That's my two cents or one half cent after inflation, and too much coffee at 6:00 A frigging M.

Much to unpack. More information than from a barrel of republicans.

I will say this as it pertains to the TEA Party.

The republican base merely needed to put on a tri cornered hat to magically be a newly discovered civilization that voted GOP.

Now, they only require a NAXI swastika emblem or ability to make the Q symbol with their hand.
But they are all republicans and always have been. It doesn't matter what they rebrand it to mean. They just need to be led.

As for the "White Nationalists". Why I remember when men weren't so justified into calling themselves white nationalist. In the old days when men were men and having sex with little boys. These superior race GOPers were proud enough, tough enough in their feeling. To call themselves NAZIS.

So why they call themselves white nationalists> If they were the superior race they tend to amuse themselves with. Why are they afraid of criticism of being called a fascist, NAZI, White supremacist.
They chose the White Nationalist title because maybe Frank Luntz polled it and found their feeling will be hurt and White Nationalist sounds much more softer and kinder. You know, acceptable to a GOP rube that is not one.

The right lost their freedom to hang a black man . Any black man they wanted ( with a gang of white men ) so they didn't have to do it alone.
That Lincoln feller took their freedom away and they want it back.

"Cuz unlike Donny Jr., working stiff GOP haven't the wealth to pay for a African Safari to have guides put the beast in a pen to be shot by Bwana. You know, Like Cheney hunting wing clipped birds in a pen from the seat of his limp.
Eliminating the cash bail is something I am going to watch. For to long it has functioned as an equality in the justice system. Let's see how it works.

I suspect like the legalizing of Weed with all those scary end of times detractors. it has proven the weed legalization opponents so very wrong. Problem now exists as an American in one state can find himself in prison for it and in another state not. Not the equality across America yet.

OK, one more time, this time in my free word processor program so if it gets eaten again like it did yesterday, I won't have to retype it before trying to post it again.
OK, Doug, use your goddamn memory...
Fetterman, who I know little about except that he's hella good at presenting himself in the media, said something to the effect of: Senators making $174,000 a year don't want you to make $31,000 a year for working 2,100 hours.
Poverty does make one's perspective on daily decisions different than they would be from a place of relative financial security.
Briana has a $600 ticket due, and it turns into a $1,500 ticket in April.
By all appearances, there will be another dose of apocalypse money before then.
So should we wait for it to show up in my bank account, or should we make a deal with Zsuzs to postpone paying March's rent until we know what's up with the timing of the rescue money?
That is a $900 question, which is right around $700 more than my monthly discretionary income.
Either way, we will be fine. That cloud of foreboding gloom hasn't been there on our financial horizon since we moved out of the East Bay, where the rent on a shitty studio apartment is more than my monthly income, in December of 2019, and should that apocalypse money come through I will be hitting the tip jar again.
Never lived in a car, but have been homeless a couple of times. They were just times when I didn't have a car, which has been most of my life. I just turned 60. But cars are a great illustration of the way poverty costs you more than just having a low income in America.
I've only had two cars that were actually mine, and one of those was the '70 Torino I got handed down to me from my folks for my twentieth birthday. Briana has a car now that I paid for with the small inheritance I got when my dad died, and her name is on the title because at the time I couldn't have a car in my name because... I'm getting ahead of myself. I also had the use of an '86 Honda Accord for a year, after Briana's mom gave it to her. The other car was a '97 Toyota Corolla I bought with the retroactive payment of my SSDI when I got it.
The Torino, the Honda, and the Toyota were all taken from me by the city when I failed to keep up with the parking tickets I got from the no parking during street sweeping rule.
Briana has a picture of the Toyota parked beneath the sign with the changed hours for street sweeping on it and the citation with the date on it in the foreground, but convincing the city they have made a mistake before they put a boot on your car and tow it is a strategy best left to those with back up transportation to use while you get it straightened out.
The minute your car hits the impound lot you owe them $700, and they will not release the car until the original citation has been discharged.
If you're the sort of person with a grand laying around to get your car back, you're probably the sort of person who can afford to keep up with the tickets in the first place.
And the towing fees were still on my record when I got the money from my dad, so I couldn't put the car in my name.
But when you're poor, you develop resources for navigating the world without the expected amount of income. My friend Rob works in a wrecking yard, and is the go-to resource for all things automotive. When he found out we were in the market for a car he told us about this '92 Mercedes 190e, the little one, that was dinged up some but had low miles because the owner had crashed it and gotten scared of driving. He sold it to us for $500, and after we put a radiator and head gasket in it, we were good to go for about three grand, which is a little less than I paid for the Toyota back in 2009.
Without his help, we might not have reliable transportation, and you can't really live out here in the boonies without it.

OK, I blew through the character limit on comments, so I'll jus shut up and forego ranting about CPAC and the Lincoln Lads and just say thank you for the podcast again.
