Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey Jr., Resistance Hero

Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey Jr. via the Twitter Machine:
To be crystal clear, Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey Jr. does not regret being a member of a depraved political party, nor does he regret the part he personally played in helping to build his political party into a monster machine capable of nominating and electing Trump.  After all, helping to build  his political party into a monster machine capable of nominating and electing Trump is literally the only reason he has a career in the first place.

Here, for example, was Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey Jr.'s statement after he and every other member of his depraved political party (minus one) voted to acquit Donald Trump less than one year ago:

"Today, I joined a majority of senators in voting to acquit President Trump. The Constitution sets a very high bar for impeachment and removal of a sitting president. While some of President Trump's actions were inappropriate, they did not come close to meeting the very high bar required to justify overturning the last election, removing him from office, and kicking him off the ballot in an election that has already begun. In November, the American people will decide for themselves whether President Trump should stay in office. In our democratic system, that's the way it should be.

"It is my hope that Congress can now move past this extremely partisan and divisive episode and get back to working on issues that will strengthen our economy and make our communities safer."

No, what Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey Jr. regrets is the butcher's bill for all of his sins and crimes coming due while his career is still in full flower, and what he deeply and sincerely regrets is that bill is being laid at his table in such a grotesque and public way.

So where the hell did Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey Jr. -- leader and lifelong member of the Republican Party -- ever get the idea that he could get away with just hanging a shocked, cow-dumb expression on his face and swearing that he never had any idea what was really happening inside his Republican Party?

I dunno.  Ya think it was maybe from these guys?

Because those are the rules now.  Saying discouraging words about Donald Trump is the shibboleth -- the magic code that grants you ouchless absolution and premium lifeboat seating no matter who you are of what you did or how patently obvious it is that you are lying about never realizing that your Republican Party was full of Republicans.

These are not my rules, mind you.  In fact I objected to them very strongly, because as much as I believe in absolution, I also know that absolution that is not preceded by sincere confession, repentance and atonement is bullshit.

But I was overruled by my own allies, so those are the rules now.

Ergo Senator Patrick Joseph Toomey Jr., Resistance Hero.

Behold, a Tip Jar!

And that swashbuckling Sen Ben Sasse, Who miraculously replied when ask about the recent call of House impeachment.

"Well Gosh, I might be concerned sort of like Susan Collins and might be willing to consider it", :Golly garsh.

And I do declare, Chris Christie has blessed us with his benevolent permission to impeach because he says this is impeachable. Conspiring with Russia wasn't, Extorting Ukraine wasn't/??

* I just want to know where is the asounding grilliance of he Hared Kusher. Wonder boy who gave us Middle East Peace? the one person who can do anything and has the largest portfolio of things to do for America?
I mean, after he got his daddy that pardon from his Pop-in-Law. Jared is AWOL?

No, shitbird, the Grand Nagus's "behavior after the election" is not the least bit "different" and is entirely in line with "his behavior before," whether before the 2020 election or before the 2016 election, or for that matter before the 2012 election or the 2008 election or...

Call a sociopath a sociopath.
