Mick Mulvaney, Resistance Hero

Mick Mulvaney on CNBC today:

Mick Mulvaney, President Donald Trump’s former chief of staff, told CNBC on Thursday he has resigned as special U.S. envoy to Northern Ireland.

“I called [Secretary of State] Mike Pompeo last night to let him know I was resigning from that. I can’t do it. I can’t stay,” Mick Mulvaney said in an exclusive interview on “Squawk Box.”

“Those who choose to stay, and I have talked with some of them, are choosing to stay because they’re worried the president might put someone worse in,” Mulvaney said. But he said other officials may resign after Wednesday’s riot at the U.S. Capitol.

An administration official confirmed to CNBC’s Eamon Javers that National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien was considering resigning over the insurrection. O’Brien’s deputy, Matthew Pottinger, has reportedly resigned. Stephanie Grisham, chief of staff for first lady Melania Trump, and Sarah Matthews, White House deputy press secretary, resigned Wednesday.

“We didn’t sign up for what you saw last night,” Mulvaney said. “We signed up for making America great again, we signed up for lower taxes and less regulation. The president has a long list of successes that we can be proud of.”

“But all of that went away yesterday, and I think you’re right to ask the question as to ‘how did it happen?’” Mulvaney told CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin.

Mulvaney added that Trump was “not the same as he was eight months ago.”...

Note this sentence -- “not the same as he was eight months ago" -- because that assertion of when things started to go wrong is one of the characteristics that bind virtually all of America's Republican Resistance Heroes.  The lie that everything was jake with the GOP right up until just before they left.

Then, suddenly...

Eight months ago.  A year ago.  Four years ago.  The calendar doesn't matter.  What matters is that in each case, the alibi is that the GOP went spla just as they were walking out the door.

It's all bullshit of course.  Depending on how pedantic you want to get, the GOP was already irrevocably doomed and the signs of it were unmistakable to any reasonable person in 1968...or 1980...or 1994.  Point being, racism, lying and depravity have been hardwired into the GOP and clearly visible to anyone who bothered to look for a long, long time ago.

None of which seems to matter now because once the elite Left decided it was more important to grant ouchless absolution and premium lifeboat seating to literally anyone who said a discouraging word about Trump than it was to hold people accountable for all that they had said and done for decades to enable the rise of a monster Trump, nobody much cared when the Long Bad Trip really started of why it has gone on so long.

Hence Mick Mulvaney, Resistance Hero.

Behold, a Tip Jar!

Here we go, an article from the Guardian about Prescott Bush and the Nazi's:

Fuck these fucking fuckers as they try to unfuck themselves from all that they have fucking done. The bits and pieces of the ratfuckery of the republican party go way back with the get out of jail free "for the good of the nation" card, and it continues unabated to this day, January 8, 2021.

Don't worry you won't miss anything, the get out of jail free card and a seat on the USS "wasn't my fault, it all happened after I left" will continue for months, hell years to come.

I know it is not my wish alone that you, Driftglass, now start getting the phone calls to appear on the talk/news shows and explain some this past to general public.

I also wish you would write a book or I should say books, after all DFB should get a book of his own as he is a foundation piece of the modern republican fuckery and their attempt at the vivisection of our Democracy. He has a big job keeping all the old rich white men happy and believing that their wealth and power is worth the price of the death and destruction in and of our country and the majority of its citizens.

Remember when Micky was a shiny thing. A House TEA Party member who was going to prove Obama's birth certificate was false.
As soon as he got done with his 2 year investigation of Benghazi.

This is starting to remind me when Then Calif. Governor Reagan abruptly shut down all the state mental hospitals sending the mentally ill out onto the streets.
