Is The Rule Still "All Hands On Deck"...

...and "Your Past Doesn't Matter As Long As You're With Us Now"?

Because if it is... (from Newsweek):

Jimmy Dore Boogaloo Boys Interview Sparks Outrage Among Critics: 'You're a Sucker'

Comedian turned controversial political commentator Jimmy Dore has been criticized after he featured a member of the far-right Boogaloo Bois on his podcast.

Dore promoted the largely uncritical interview with the militia member Magnus Panvidya by tweeting: "I interviewed a member of the Boogaloo Boys [sic], I was completely floored when he said he is: Pro LGBTQ, Pro Black Lives Matter, Anti Police Brutality, Anti Racism, Anti ICE, Anti War WTF?!?!"

During the episode, Dore opens the show by assuming that Panvidya "is genuine" when he expresses a number of liberal views and calls for unity with the Left despite being a member of an extremist movement...

"Bloody" Bill Kristol is an unreconstructed Iraq War pimp and cheerleader for the regime-decapitating American conquest of the Middle East who shed his butcher's bill of lives lost and treasure wasted  as easily as Mr. Rogers slipped out of his suit jacket and into his cardigan by simply declaring himself to be against Donald Trump.

Because the rule is that once you declare yourself an ally, you're in The Club and your slate is wiped clean.  Period.

It doesn't matter how much hedging and backsliding and lying you go right on doing to burnish your resume.  It doesn't matter how much of an asshole you continue to be in public.  It doesn't matter how openly contemptuous you are of other member of your new team.  All is forgiven and forgotten and anyone who says otherwise is the real problem.

If these are the rules, then Magnus Panvalet is every bit the ally today that Glenn "The Christmas Sweater" Beck was in late-2016/early-2017.

Did it turn out that Beck was nothing but the same opportunistic grifter he had always been, who glommed onto the Never Trump thing to get himself back in the headlines?

Of course.

Did I write about it at the time.

Of course.

Did it make the slightest difference.

Of course not.

Because as it was repeatedly made clear to me, under the New Rules, we are no longer allowed to take a person's previous record of villainy or their propensity for knifing people in the back into consideration.  A simple declaration of shared interest is all that's required to set all that aside and let Iraq War criminals ... the Boogaloo Bois ... the Hell's Angels get in close enough to clock us on the head with a 20 pound rock.

I haven't heard anyone say Panvalet since around 1981. (old-time programmer here)
