Today, in the course of complementing each other about how awesome the Lincoln Lads are and how important the Never Trumpkins are (while carefully containing any discussion about what has gone wrong with their GOP to 'the last couple of years') Mr. Charlie Sykes and Mr. Rick Wilson paused for a moment to belittle the Stoopid Left for not being sufficiently grateful for their political genius.
Sykes: Here is something I don't think you've seen. The New Republic has a review [of a new book about Never Trumpers]. They assigned it to a very Left Yale professor who hates Never Trumpers. And here's the conclusion...There follows a bunch of yadda yadda yadda about how coastal elite liberal journalists don't understand the Heartland and that their crazy commie ideas turn Real Murricans off. So thank Sweet Balanced Budget Amendment Jesus that the Never Trumpers were there to save the Democrats from themselves!
Excerpt from The New Republic: "While Saldin and Teles are right that the Never Trump phenomenon will have lasting effects, those effects are not the ones they propose. Its significance, even if it was born on the right, is that it succeeded overwhelmingly in a centrist containment of the left. Its historic role turns out to be not among Republicans so far, but within a Democratic Party whose members have chosen to convert enemies into friends, setting up a guardrail against the capture of their party by the left. The legacy of Never Trump so far is stopping progress, rather than saving democracy."
Sykes concludes: Now my reaction to that is, basically, he says that like its a bad thing? It's like "No, that;s exactly right." We are warning the Democrats...
Rick Wilson: I...I...I'm happy, I'm happy, I'm happy, that that he understands that there's is a consequence to political courage. And that some affirmative consequence. But I am always fascinated by people who [a story about Ted Cruz ensues]. And this idea that they can have progressive purity across the country...
Mr, Wilson is adamant that Donald Trump is the Alpha and the Omega of all of the problems with his Republican Party. Trump and Trump's enablers are what's wrong, period. And so eliminating Trump and his enablers will let Rick Wilson re-set the GOP and guide it back to the good old days of lying us into the wrong wars and freaking out over the Black president's birth certificate.
And as for the "woke progressive Left" [always spoken dripping with contempt], well, if Democrats hadn't listened to Never Trumpers, they might've nominated Bernie Sanders. And then, glory be...
Wilson: If it was Sanders, I think Trump wins 42 - 44 states.Once again we are playing the game of Capture the Narrative.
One again we are losing.

Watching this unfold, in real time, yet again (liberal consensus, Law & Order, Southern strategy, Reagan Democrats, MAGA) is perplexing. A one-trick pony with a fabulous costume department? Catastrophe after catastrophe, decade after decade, lie after lie laid bare... lather, rinse, repeat... As long as there's a hippie to punch; an illicit, implied association to be drawn... DFB,Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Ingraham, Sykes, Wilson et al. will draw it and enough of the people will be fooled for just long enough to maintain their sinecures.
My position is we should let them slag trump all they want. If they offer suggestions on what democrats should do just smile and say there, there, would you like a hot beverage before you go sit quietly in the corner
It appears to be addictive and harmful to the health and well being of those who succumb to Republicanism.
Like Drug and Alcohol addiction Republicanism is a illness and should be treated as such.
They will harm there families and those closet to them even. Like swabbing an antiseptic on a would making it sting. the more you try and reason with GOPers they cry out in vicious manners to remain in their stupor.
They are frighteeeeened of sovriety and reality.
Why the stigmatiism that it is not an illness and should be treated just as drug addiction is past due.
I call for republican REhab.
It is how republicans can find disgust in Trump but cling on like a star Trek charater to the republican senators and House members that promote and enable the very Trump they are engrossed enough by to vote for Biden to remove the Donald. But not the GOP senators who admitted Trump extorted Ukraine (for example) for his reelection and in the midst of a impeachment trial. We know he did it but he is republican and so no witnesses will be needed because we know he is guilty but we do not want the public to see and hear those whiteness. Because Republican Law and Order.
When I put on my rosiest glasses, I see the Rs shattering like a kidney stone. All we have to do is piss out the shards.
