Perhaps that could be the theme that underlies the reliable nature of each successive Republican administration managing to be even worse than the previous one:
All of those high-level staffers and secretaries and the like are still gonna need careers and stuff, so they can at least look better after they're gone by comparison.
Sure, it's a silly idea, but is it any sillier than the "inherent evil" hypothesis?

And on the subject of accidental brilliance, the one thing Biden has to sell himself with (besides competence) is the fact that he's a fundamentally decent guy, and who knew that would all of the sudden be such an advantage in a politician?
I'm with Bishop Barber on the monuments issue: if we want to get lasting change out of this uprising, we have to convert our passion into policy.
Thank you again for the podcast, and remembering what I was like as an eighteen year old is one reason I never wanted any children, but even so, my parents seemed to take it in stride.
Perhaps they had some qualities I never got around to acquiring...

On the subject of media and . The GOP long before FOX complained harshly they could not appear on air and espouse any lie or misleading information or accusations they wanted. That it was reserved for Tabloids that were not taken seriously.
Most know the rise of FOX and Roger Aliles leading role in it’s development.
I wanted to point out that it cannot be restricted to Brooks, Kristol, Gerson Et Al.
Example;
The Beat on the MSNBC with Ari Melber. Recently. Thomas Freidman makes his debut on the Beat.
Tom F is exactly one of those in the house elite welfare media positions.
His Bush/Cheney support runs deep. So he goes on the Beat to espouse his male version of Peggy Noonan, “ I declare if people would just calm down and not be so partisan “ insights.

Anyone can read Justice Kavanaugh’s opening statement at his hearing and on that statement alone, would deem his maturity, common sense, dignity and judicial reverence was absent and did not deserve to fail upward to a life time appointment being one of only 9.
But Thomas F. felt he won something. Like his tax cuts that had to be borrowed in a time of debt (after 8 years of radical extreme harmful “Fiscal Conservatism” IE, Tea Party excuse that mattered not as that $2 Trillion was borrowed during debt on the middle class tax payers backs. People Like Freidman was “a hopefully secure in his finances while others paid for it.
Where was Thomas F. when a navy seal was killed in Yemen and Trump blamed the failed mission (Trump approved during his watch) Blamed it on Obama.
Where was the outrage and years of multiple investigations of the 4 American soldiers killed in Niger?
(did they investigate Ivanka and Jared’s personal email servers?)
Thomas F. gave media comfort to Trump over Russian attack on 2016 election. Where was Thomas F. big opinion column on extorting Ukraine and withholding military aid that helped Russia invade Ukraine.?
I have only addressed the blatant obvious surface of this and you can see, The diseased corrupt house I was dead before I started beating it as far as the so called GURUs of right wing bipartisan projected media to consume.
Like Brooks or Thomas F and others, they get the ability to encapsulate their career and current position(s) individually. Never facing their past imbalances with truth, fact or accountability.
This is like Trump telling his Hordes history lessons. How the Union Army protected and manned the Air force bases, ramming the Ramparts, Lincoln did the deed with the slaves, did you know he was a republican?
You would need to know the make up of the Liberal and conservative of the party of Lincoln to know better.
This nonsense is done all the time.
