Gen. Sherman is one of my most interesting historical Civil War Generals.

And NO!!!!
As Gen. Sherman and others. Trump does not and never will come close to knowing more than them.

Grant and Sherman should have finished the job. Military rule of the south should have remained until legitimate government could be established, the economy restructured, and all remnants of the confederacy outlawed forever.

OK, we just got back from grocery shopping down in Oakhurst and while I was down there something occurred to me: most of the folks passing judgement on black people who they see in the media simply aren't qualified to do so. Hear me out:
I am a regular commenter on the Field Negro's blog, and his philosophy is to not moderate the comments because he would rather hear what the racists really think than be surprised by their actions later, and I, as a white guy, have to think twice or three times about the inflammatory shit I write there (and make no mistake, my shit does get inflammatory, I aim my writing voice there to be an uneven mix of you, a biker, the Rude Pundit, and my regular speaking voice. It sounds weird to write about it, but it seems to work).
Many times when engaging with the racist trolls there, I have come out with what I see as the plain truth: they don't know what it's like to be black in America. And as I tell them, neither do I, really. I thought I did, but then back in 2001 and 2002 I spent ten months as the only white person in an otherwise all black household, and these were my friends.
Vincent, the head of said household is like a brother to me, and I was still unprepared for what their actual life was like... in fucking south Berkeley.
So I can only imagine what your average black family goes through it places that, well, aren't Berkeley. But at least I have something to base that imagination on, and perhaps more importantly, I actually do it.
There are days when I feel like if more white people would just do that much, things might begin to change, and other days I just don't feel like most of them are up to it, and all of those days I know deep in my bones that it is just not enough.
One thing at a time, though, and some days I actually feel a little good about my place in the situation, but only for a minute before I go back to the struggle.
Thanks again for the podcast, and speaking of governors, Gavin Reptile is turning out to be quite a bit better than I expected. London Breed and Sara Cody got in his ears early on, and god damn if they didn't get him to save a whole shitload of lives here. Just today, he said of the counties and the reopening "We've told them the how, now they have to decide the when." Can't really argue with that.

How do the self proclaimed faithful need to point at other's sin so to hide theirown.

The Log Cabin republicans who belong to a political party that condemns them and wants to give them shock treatment to alter their behavior.

All the self proclaimed white supremacists who openly desperately need to punish others not just for self gain but for self aggrandizement.

Having a leg amputated makes one absolutely know the lose and adapting .
Some may break a leg and spend some time in a cast and realize the notion of someone who lost their entire leg for life.
There are some that can recieve a minor leg injury and realize the pain of one losinng a leg for life.
Then, there are those no matter what they will never comprehend what another may endure. No matter if they had their own leg amputated, they would be the only one it ever happened to and demand the entire world stop, notice his pain and do something for him.
I do not know if it is Neurological wiring of nature. An indoctrination taught from birth, or both.
I do know it is why we need a government with power that can adopt laws to reduce it and people that can face it, and not enable it.

Thanks for sharing.
