Bern Box

From WaPo:

Sen. Bernie Sanders changes his message to black voters: ‘Racism is alive’

...
“Racial equality must be central to combating economic inequality,” Sanders said, in a speech that used the refrain “racism is alive” to walk through a litany of problems faced by minorities.

The changes from Sanders’s last campaign were hard to miss. In 2016, he said that “identity politics” distracted from what he considered real issues, like economic inequality and the decline of organized labor...
Within the Democratic Party, the Left has largely won the battle of ideas.  Now we are haggling over "How" not "If".

Senator Sanders should be proud of this.

For the record, I will support the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party in 2020.  So if Senator Sanders wins the nomination, he will receive my full and unconditional support.

I'm willing to give Sanders a bit of a pass on this.

IMO, I agree that the Democratic party has moved too far away from focusing on issues, such as economic inequality and the decline of organized labor. Speaking only for myself, I also feel that the D Party gets too far into the weeds some of the time vis identity politics, and I feel it does turn off some potential voters (not talking about the so-called economically anxious yayhoos).

However, that was before Trump got in. Now the racism is so in our faces, so blatant, so awful and so destructive, I have to give Sanders some credit for acknowledging this. It's just something that we cannot ignore.

I happen to like Sanders. I know a lot don't. So be it.

Like Driftglass, and as with the 2016 election, I will vote for the D candidate for POTUS, whomever that is.

It seems Sanders being so intent on one message of economic equality is one segment that confronts racism.

Just know, a conservative mind has electronic brain cell communication problems that makes it almost impossible to have an enlightening moment. To progress for the better. The ability to learn, admit and adjust to the present from a fast depleting past. To for see a preparation of what the future brings.

Sanders is one of many good choices.

Come to think of it,which candidate during the last Presidential election realized the White Supremacy unionizing just at Breitbart alone.
Since then, The Virginia NAZI Tiki Torch marches, Et Al has crystallized into into a larger problems just like the Southern Poverty Law Center projected.

Unless it's Biden.

And he goes ahead and blows it...

“Many of my opponents do not hold that view, and they think that all that we need is people who are candidates who are black or white, who are black or Latino or woman or gay, regardless of what they stand for, that the end result is diversity.”

"Unless it's Biden."

You'd vote to keep Fergus over Biden? Isn't that sort of how we got Fergus in the first place?
