Mona Charen Knows The Magic Words

Now that the disintegration of American Conservatism is reaching the Tulip Mania Collapse stage,  political teevee shows and major American newspapers are finding it necessary to spelunk ever deeper into the CPAC sewer to find persons who will stay reliably with the Reasonable Conservative media sweet-spot.  Individuals who will hit their marks and say their lines without then taking a sharp, right turn into an extended soliloquy on, say, their rustic views about hanging women who would prefer not to bear their abuser's children, or how the inherent male right of Droit du seigneur may be satisfied in this here Modern Space Age of ours by upgrading it to Droid du Seigneur and distributing sex robots to the worthy but unfuckable.

So as is the case whenever demand wildly outstrips available supply, quality control slips drastically, which is why you have cable news outlets like MSNBC giving airtime to odious fringe-dwellers like Mona Charen.  Because however awful she may be for 23 and 55 minutes on any given day, she can keep her shit together long enough to nod her head, slag Donald Trump and still deliver the Magic Words that make the Beltway's toes curl in ecstatic delight.

Chris Hayes:  That's exactly what it is. It's all the right enemies, right? The idea is there's this sort of -- there's this kind of bank shot logic, which is that if these people, if the right people hate me then I have to be good. and you end up in these crazy situations where you're like -- you're voting for a guy that's alleged in Alabama to have molested children because it's making the liberals crazy.

Mona Charen:  You're also -- both sides are marinating in hatred. Both Republicans and Democrats. Honestly, what does the Democratic Party stand for this year? Nothing except hating Trump. which is understandable. but -- and the Republican Party doesn't stand -- the Republicans are doing nothing on Capitol Hill.  They're not interested in doing anything except rubbing Liberals' noses in people that they find odious.

Yeah, marinating in hatred is no way to go through life, people!
