Back To Zero

I've concluded the pivot isn't going to happen. He's going to keep doing the big rallies and the rambling, random bullshit-laden speeches with maybe, maybe once a couple of weeks reading a teleprompter speech that means nothing to him or his fans but then drowning the message via his inevitable tweets. This is by far the strangest Presidential campaign I've ever experienced in my lifetime. The debates, if they happen, will be truly bizarre. Clinton should insist that at least one of them should be a town hall format. Trump will be a disaster in that format.

In other news, Benito Mussolini called Donald; he wants his reputation back.

Just paint the fucking zero on already.

who will be surprised to find the opposition responsible for Seddique Mateen being "invited" to Clinton event?

This is Trump. He is who he is. There never was any pivot. Pivot to what? We might as well see him as he is. I doubt the debates will happen, but the lousy media will find some damn way to make it be Both Sides! Both Sides! Because that's the default. The leftist sorts see this for the bullshit lie that it is, but it satisfies the TeaTardz & white supremacists, so eh? Good to go.

Zero Days since Trump made a horse's ass of himself? And so it will remain until he shuffles off this mortal coil. And his rabid idiot racist xenophobic base will adulate, clap & cheer him bc birds of a feather....

OK, this is a rich kid (puzzled about Trump? That's the real story. Common type. Had his ass kissed all his life. Thinks he can get away with anything,) who's gotten away with this crap all his life.
He literally doesn't know when to quit.
And I suspect that will destroy him before this is over.
Hubris, anyone?

Dude, I feel ya. I've been a bit of a political junkie since I was a kid (Nixon - Humphrey '68) and a massive one since my late teens (when I misguidedly worked for Anderson - though to be fair it was all in an anti-Reagan fervor and Anderson was my then girlfriend's idea) and I've never seen anything like this. Romney's campaign was THE worst run, most hilarious campaign I'd ever seen and I never thought anything could top it. To give DG props for the term, this isn't just a dumpster fire - this is a trash compactor fire next to the toxic waste slue underneath the high voltage lines feeding into the fireworks factory. Obama and Clinton have put baby in the corner (baby being the GOP) and not one of them can disown him. Trump pivot? Never was gonna happen. GOP pivot? We thought maybe, but no. It's like watching a rat with its foot nailed to the floor alternately running in the same limited circle and/or trying to bite its own leg off.
(And for the record, I've thankfully never seen that, I remember ages ago hearing about some 80s burnouts doing that for their stupid stoned amusement. But the GOP comparison I believe is apt.)
Anyhow....tomorrow....another day. WTF next?

Re political campaigns: I was quite young but come from a rightwing political junkie family (how I turned to the left is another story). I well remember the JFK Nixon campaign, and I watched - live - the infamous debate where Nixon sweat bullets on tv, which helped to sink his bid. During that campaign there was huge focus on JFK being a Roman Catholic and how he would probably be beholden to the Pope and the Vatican first. Ergo, JFK was unAmerican and all that blather.

RMoney's campaign made me laugh in conjunction with the JFK campaign. Although my rightwing parents had quite a lot of RC friends - and weren't so bigoted against Catholics as a LOT of WASPs were back then - they still had "issues" with JFK being RC.

My rightwing fundie family have always viewed Mormons as devil worshippers (no exaggeration). So I was highly amused at their amoral hypocrisy when they voted for RMoney for being such a "godly man." cough hack wheeze... oh yeah? The so-called Christiany values set have always been amoral, bigoted hypocrites.

According to my rightwing fundie sibs, they are NOT voting for Trump, who apparently is simply a bridge too far for them. I do find that interesting, although who knows what they'll do once they're in the privacy of the voting booth. There are cetainly a TON of so-called "Evangelicials" who can't wait to cast their ballot for thrice-married, philandering, non-Christian Trump, who's married to an illegal alien porn star, albeit she is white.

Yeah, there's been some odd ball campaign stuff over the years, but this one really takes the cake and then some. I shudder to contemplate what will emerge in 2020 because I definitely do NOT see the GOP going quietly into that good-night, nor do I see the GOP doing any sort of "pivot" away from what the Don's wrought for them this time around. Angry, slavering base? Yeah but so manipulated AND they're paying Donald off with all that sweet sweet SWEET Grifting payola. CHA CHING!!!!!! Tell me which PTB is gonna walk away from that??

This whole 'pivot' discussion baffles me. We saw GOP pundit after pundit yakking about how once Trump sewed up the nomination he will 'pivot' to a more mainstream, sane attitude and policies. In other words, everything he told the voters prior to the Convention was horse manure just to get votes from the crazy people. Doesn't that in itself say, "Don't believe a thing he says because it's all to get votes and is pretty much hogswallop". And they STILL vote for him? And apparently the Speaker of the House and the Majority Leader of the Senate have no qualms whatsoever saying that their nominee will now change everything. Blatently, as if they can't see that that attitude in itself is what drives voters insane. I've never heard Democratic leaders and pundits talk like that, quite frankly, not with the same contempt Republicans have for their voters. Yes, I've seen Democrats cynically change positions to get votes, but generally that happens during the primary season. And they don't have people bragging about how they have now 'pivoted'. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but this truly baffles me.
