Paul Ryan Promises Party Unity In Our Time

Better capitulate than never...

This morning I had another talk with our party's candidate, Mr. Trump, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine. Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you: 'I'm going to win everywhere.  Women love me, except for Megyn Kelly and Crooked Hillary..  The gays love me.  And the Hispanics, but not the Muslim Hispanics, who are hiding under your bed waiting to kill you thanks to Obama.  Melania is a genius who wrote the 1 and 2 Corinthians.  My sons, Uday and Qusay, will be the most terrific Secretaries of State and Treasury in history.   And the Blacks love me too.'

From the New York Times:
Paul Ryan’s Dance With The Donald

Among the Republicans going along with Donald Trump’s takeover of their party, the House speaker, Paul Ryan, has made a tortuous art — a zigzag of maybes, yes-buts and oh, I guess sos — of protecting his interests en route to capitulating to the inevitable at the nominating convention.

By supporting the Trump candidacy, Mr. Ryan has revealed himself to be a weak opportunist, far from the ideas man and budget wonk he made himself out to be when he secured the vice-presidential nomination four years ago. It probably hasn’t been easy to engage in the political casuistry needed to simultaneously reject and embrace Mr. Trump.

While condemning Mr. Trump’s more hateful utterances, Mr. Ryan has been careful never, ever to criticize Mr. Trump himself...

Putin put it out there for the whole world to see--if you flatter Trump you're a "great guy" who "gets it" and you can get away with anything. Ryan is just following the playbook, and hoping everybody will forget he said it post-election.

What is this "he made himself" shit? Ryan may have volunteered/been drafted to be the ideas/budget guy to sell cutting social services and redirecting public money to billionaires. But the media is 100% responsible for the idea ever getting off the ground.

Like baby face Rubio, the GOP/media is ALWAYS looking young fresh faced pretty boys as the front men selling deregulation, privatization, and tax cuts so everyone pretend the GOP isn't bunch of sour faced old white guys conning rednecks and bigots.

Is Paul Ryan conceding to be eaten by the Freedom Caucus of the House GOP?

Ryan spends on borrowed credibility that he cannot repay.
