What Pat Buchanan Is Trying To Say Is...

...that the Left was right about the Right all along:

Republicans Reject Bush (at Last)
By PATRICK J. BUCHANAN • May 6, 2016, 12:42 AM

...
Not only was son and brother, Jeb, humiliated and chased out of the race early, but Trump won his nomination by denouncing as rotten to the core the primary fruits of signature Bush policies.

Twelve million aliens are here illegally, said Trump, because the Bushes failed to secure America’s borders. America has run up $12 trillion in trade deficits and been displaced as the world’s first manufacturing power by China, said Trump, because of the lousy trade deals backed by Bush Republicans.

The greatest strategic blunder in U.S. history, said Trump, was the Bush II decision to invade Iraq to disarm it of nonexistent weapons of mass destruction. The war Bush began, says Trump, produced 5,000 American dead, scores of thousands wounded, trillions of dollars wasted, and a Middle East sunk in civil-sectarian war, chaos, and fanaticism.

That is a savage indictment of the Bush legacy. And a Republican electorate, in the largest turnout in primary history, nodded, “Amen to that, brother!” No matter who wins in November, there is no going back for the GOP.
Right about the Right.

All along.

And for the record, I'd wager the mortgage that damn near 100% of those “Amen to that, brother!” born-again True Conservative heroes were the same gaping wingnut dickholes who voted to re-elect the worst president in modern history in record numbers in 2004 and spent most of the Bush Administration mocking and slandering anyone who criticized Dubya in the slightest as America-hating, terrorist-loving surrender moneys.

I just want you close-captioned in the lower third of every single Sunday morning show. Is that too much to ask Our Dark Overlords? It would be entertainment to them, but to everybody else it would be "fair and balanced". Maybe throw in a short 5-second commercial for whiskey, BBQ and/or Italy ever once in a while.

I'll say anything for the money!

Buchanan sharts out some truthiness re the Bush Crime Syndicate, no doubt. But I don't think that's why the chuckleheads in the Gee Oh Pee are all-so-fired thrilled with their new "world leader," Herr Trump. Nah. They're just thrilled to have some out loud and damn proud of it racist, sexist, homophobic pig person to "represent them."

In fact, MANY of these Trumpers were mightily "upset" when Trump slammed the Bush Crime Syndicate and even petitioned their new almighty Lord of Mammon to not harsh their Bush buzz.

I don't know why Buchanan hates the Bush Crime Syndicate so much. If I had the time and inclination, I'd bet good money that he was kissing up to WBushCo and endorsing the War on Eye-Rack because Moozelinz 'n Terrisssss!!!!11!!!

So I find this more than specious coming from this perverted scumbag, but yes, Buchanan is echoing most of what the left said at the time... that is when we could tell the TRUTH without being stoned for it. Just ask Natalie Maines how things went for her and her band.

PJB misses a key point: Dick Cheney.

Dick Cheney, as SecDef to Bush-41, helped torpedo efforts to find a diplomatic solution to Hussein's invasion of Kuwait.

And then he wormed his way onto the Bush-43 ticket and convinced the hapless Shrub to invade Iraq again after 9/11.

Yes, 41 & 43 were horrific, but Cheney pretty much birthed both conflicts.

That "Nixon's the One" balloon reminded me of a song of the same name on the radio back in '74 by Kathryn&Duffy&the Enemies List. I wish I could link to it, but it doesn't appear to be on the internet, unless you are a member of Dr. Demento...

We will never know the answer to this question, of course, but I will always wonder how much Trump paid W to promise not to come the the convention.

Pat Buchanan has criticized neoconservatives for years. He wrote a book about it titled "Where the Right Went Wrong." I dislike his racism and xenophobia, but in this I agree with him.

Buchanan represents the old GOP before WWII: racist, xenophobic and isolationist. That's why he hates Bush & Co. In fact, Trump kind of represents a return to the old pre-WWII. Remember, the neo-conservative movement was also bi-partisan, at least during the Cold War (though since the end of that "War" it's pretty much been the home of RW extremists). The larger point is one Driftglass has made many times,i.e. the GOP pretends to have no memory of what happened during W's tenure and the GOP base really has no memory of what happened even yesterday much less 8+ years ago.

Thanks, Leo, that's interesting to know re PJB. That said, though, PJB is simply wrong, IMO, about his assessment that the R base hates the Bush Crime Syndicate and is "mad" about the Iraq War. I beg to differ. The base is "mad," but they've been trained for decades to be in a state of simmering rage, but over the latest outrage du jour. These days it's all about Obama. No matter what Obama does or doesn't do, the base has been trained to hate him on command, and they do, no matter what.

As I stated, above, I heard blurbs on the radio from Trump fans crying and sobbing when Trump accurately blasted the Bush Crime Syndicate. I doubt most of the base agreed with Trump on that particular meme. The base loves Trump bc he's an overtly racist sexist homophobic asshole, just like they are. And they want to blame and diss the "poors" for all the ills in society. The Bush Crime Syndicate? Off the radar for the base, other than to venerate them like they worship St. Reagan.

In that I have to disagree with PJB. He's making up his own myths and bullshit based on his own belief system... not what's really happening with the base. And there you have it: PJB encapsulates what's wrong with all of the nattering nabobs. They speak from their very personal experiences, hatreds, viewpoints, etc. They purport to speak FOR the mob, but they really don't. They just speak for themselves.

Ergo, while I may agree with some aspects of what PJB and/or Herr Trump say, they're still snake oil salesmen conning the mob in order to fleece them. Count on it.

I'll go one step further (it's what DFH's do). All the pearl clutching by the RW pundits about left behind middle and working class whites is horse shit. Those crackers have been a simmering cauldron of hate because of civil rights and social change. Not the changes themselves, but because to live in modern society, they've had to 'muzzle it'. Trump excites them because of the promise of using "nigger" again without losing their jobs, to talk about kikes over drinks without people getting up and leaving the table. This is the aspect of their lives that is insufferable. The stagnant wages, yada yada, don't mean shit. They just want to have the supremacy over the coloreds, aliens, and effete snobs that they used to, and a kickass army used swiftly and with ease. As long as it doesn't raise taxes.

Who is "W"? I simply thought those missing years from 2001 thru Jan 2009 were swallowed up by some sort of Einsteinian anomaly.

And requires none of them, or their spawn to actually, you know, go in harm's way, because that is what "they" are for.
