This is what they want.

This is what they have always wanted.

Once upon a time in Germany, polling during an election showed that enough party loyalist voters would vote for who ever was nominated.
Not saying there is any similarities. But obvious evidence piles up that would cause some semblance of man's inherent ability of thought over the animal kingdom to surface.

But Trump promises..................

Big government instead of conservative small.

Actively intrusive government in all American lives (except that of those who meet an economic status.

American imperialism for the world.
A whole lot of spending to greatness and security. (but for who I ask?)

May I be so bold to point out in recent history of the GOP presidential campaigning.
Sir Mittens Romney was morphed into some unholy image I still have rough times describing which you know it when you see it.

The GOP genetic altering facility at Heritage Foundation are cracking the whips on the smuggle in Chineese prison slaves to come up with the scientific genetic code that will turn this dung ball beetle into a beautiful dung ball beetle.

Funny how every single damn one of these principled conservatives...

Were never principled about racism.

Were never principled about homophobia.

Were never principled about white nationalism.

Were never principled about misogyny.

Were never principled about torture.

Were never principled about rapacious greed.

And now, they're stuck pandering to all the crypto-Nazi white male betas who want their to make their media fantasies reality.

Has the GOP reached critical mass, yet?

The uranium pile keeps getting bigger, as the Both Sides fire brigade keeps stacking graphite bricks around The Pile. Physicist Enrico Fermi described the [Republican] efforts as "a crude pile of black bricks and wooden timbers."

Eventually, surely, David Brooks will have failed to wander the Earth in search of real people, and stayed too close to the Event. Historians will record that he threw out pieces of chalk to his colleagues to mark their exact distance from the criticality.

Expecting Republicans to have principles is like expecting the TV bidness to have principles. Oh. Wait. I smell a connection...
