Now that the Republican Party is dead, America's Neo-Know-Nothing Party is having themselves some fun sorting out which yahoo will rule them.

Washington (CNN) The House Freedom Caucus, an influential group of conservatives, will back Florida Rep. Daniel Webster for Speaker, several lawmakers said following a Wednesday afternoon meeting.

The decision is a major rebuke to the House leadership under Speaker John Boehner, and Kevin McCarthy, the current majority leader looking to win the Speaker's job.

Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, said it took several votes to determine the winner of the endorsement. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, had "some support", McCarthy had "no support" and Webster had the most support, he said.

Thursday, the Republican conference will vote on who to nominate as their Speaker candidate. But that vote only requires a majority -- and the crucial hurdle for McCarthy will be whether he can get 218 votes on the floor in the House election October 29.

If the Freedom Caucus maintains its unity through the floor vote, it could force McCarthy through multiple ballots for the first time in nearly a century.

"We intend to go all the way to the floor on this," Labrador said, but left open the possibility the caucus could be convinced to change their minds before the final vote.

Rep. Matt Salmon promised "more than 30 votes" would go to Webster.
...

For those of you who have no idea who Daniel Webster is, here is the testimony of one of this strongest supporters (from the Breitbart Collective Farm because the video would not embed):
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” Saturday to react to Speaker of the House Rep. John Boehner's (R-OH) announced resignation set for the end of October.

“First of all, I awoke this morning, I said my prayers and I said, Thank you, Lord,” Gohmert said of his reaction Saturday morning.

The congressman from Texas stated that under Boehner there has been a “dictatorship” and a more conservative Speaker will actually listen to the majority.

“I think that you will see a – no matter who the Speaker is, and I’m supporting Dan Webster of Florida, I know they’ll be more conservative because they will let the majority rule and that’s the way it’s supposed to work,” he said. “We have had a dictatorship for years now and we saw that with the funding of the Homeland Security, which funded amnesty. You had 167 Republicans vote against it; 75 vote for it, which tells you way over two-thirds have not been listened to by this Speaker.”
I have already told the Skulking Coward Moderate Republican Caucus how they can turn this dogshit into gold and do the right thing in the process.

As usual, I expect not one of them will nut up and do what is necessary to save the Party they claim to love.

Meanwhile, if someone could figure out how to hook up a turbine to the corpse of the original Daniel Webster, the spinning might well generate enough electricity to power Greater Boston.

One can only hope that they do a great job of utterly destroying themselves.

As just announced, McCarthy withdrew, Keeps hope alive for Gohmert. We now need descriptions of the GOP that transcend "insane". I'm at a loss...

I like the dictatorship comment. Notice that what he is calling a dictatorship, where a majority of our elected representatives irrespective of party affiliation vote to pass a law, is what is commonly referred to as our constitutional system of government. Man, I hope this guy is visited by the ghost of self awareness on his death bed. May he never get any closer to the levers of power.
