Going To The Candidates' Debate

toolz

Some live-tweeting action while I try to wrap my head around the fact that as the Crazier Than Ever Party girds for battle once again, our Walter Cronkite/Will Rogers/Mark Twain is retiring from the field tonight.

They touched every wingnut pleasure center there is.

And they had to irrevocably abandon the real world to do it.

"Fo far, the number of lies-per-minute has exceeded what physicists have long believed was bullshit's theoretical upper limit."

Best observation yet. Thank you! Why I give you money. People - give him money too! What would we do without this? Hmmm???

Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Every way you look at it you lose

The opening schtick was aimed at pulling Trump into the open for flaying and it worked like a charm. Kelly's litany of misogyny was, honestly, beautiful, and Trump couldn't resist going Full Bully on her. Another kneecapper for Trump. Fox clearly threw a couple of roundhouses at Carson, they don't care much for Rand Paul and I sensed they had the knives out for Rubio, but he was surprisingly too smart for them. Walker hit the batting practice pitches for weak singles; Jeb fouled off every pitch and was a mess; Kasich has the look of this year's Huntsman. But he was the only one to fondle The Donald's ball sack. Everyone else either kept their mouths shut or tried to mug him.

Highlights:
"Let's cut taxes. That'll stimulate the economy."
"Get rid of the 'Death Tax' and rely more on sales taxes, afflict the afflicted and comfort the comfortable."
"Get rid of all those darn regulations. What could possibly go wrong?"
"Sure, we've known for weeks now that the Planned Parenthood video was fraudulent but we're still going to use it. It's the new Benghazi."
"Repeal Obamacare. If you're poor, don't get sick..."
"Ban gay marriage. The Culture War isn't over!"
"We need to find ways to get people off public assistance and put them to work. What do you mean, many of them ARE working full time?"

To add to my previous post, I forgot one:

"We need to increase defense spending, cut taxes and balance the budget all at the same time."

I think Lindsey Graham was dipping into Rick Perry's back pain medication--he was clearly out of his depth and that bizarre pivot from Planned Parenthood to sending more soldiers to the Middle East was troubling. Carly Fiorina said absolutely nothing, but since she was speaking Republican they lapped it up and begged for more. Being the "winner" of all the "losers" should make her supporters feel a bit better.

"WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR?" ;)

Come to think of it, he did become a Senator eventually--which could explain some of those laws.
