From Salon today:
How did this monster get created? The decades of GOP lies that brought us Donald Trump, Republican front-runner Donald Trump did not happen overnight. From Salon Friday:
He's the product of a dangerous, cynical GOP strategy that dates back years.
David Brooks will never get it: Isn’t the New York Times embarrassed by this lazy ignorance?Seriously, after more than 10 years of publishing every day, this is getting ridiculous.

How in the world does a second rate hack like DB get rich writing PR for the RNC ('moderate' conservative wing)? DB is paid to be the liberal whisperer, the guy who tries to explain conservatism to liberals. Of course, the real Right despises him.

Maybe you're angry, DG, after trying to lance this journalistic pustule for a decade, but I take heart that so many others are speaking up about the utter mediocrity and mendacity of this hack.
He is likely to retain his sinecure, just like Friedman will, because of his "Club" membership. I've given up expecting that Pinch will ditch him. My hope is that he stays on and helps accelerate the decline of the NYT, which has outlived its usefulness just like the WaPo.
Driftglass, if you can stomach it....you'll never see a clearer and more starch basic example of "both-siderism" than the shit Ruth Marcus pulled this morning on CBS. It's just sitting there waiting for you to tee off on.
Well, if the world catching up to you took ten years, that's got to be hard to take, given the fact that you have been unwavering and ridiculously prolific (and flat-out brilliant, both intellectually and artistically) in your clearly laying out, over those ten years, what some finally seem to be grasping. BUT, if there really is a reason to think that the facade is falling, that's a GOOD thing.
Still doesn't excuse or explain why DG is not seriously gainfully employed sharing his gift with a wide(r) audience. Hmmmm...maybe THAT'S on the horizon as well!
