I'm beyond face-palming every time I hear Jeb Bush's name circulated even as a possible GOP nomination by our corporate media. Yes, I know why the powers-that-be would love to see him run. Yes, I know it's just a Beltway Bubble fantasy right now. But that it's even seriously discussed as a possibility is beyond disgusting and a sign of just how broken down our political discourse has become.
After the unmitigated disaster that was the W Bush administration, given how W Bush arrived in office at a time of peace and prosperity for the nation and left us a smoldering wreckage, the entire "Bush" name should be politically toxic. In a more rational country (or at least one with a more robust political discourse) even conservatives should be loath to even bring up the family name of Bush.
"Jeb Bush 2016" should only be heard as a punchline. That Very Serious People are talking about it in a very serious way is beyond troubling. We still have a lot of work to do.
