R.I.P. Robin Williams

I have no idea why the world becomes unendurable for some people, and why others seem to able to bear anything.

I hope his family and friends find some peace.

And if anyone who runs across this is having a very bad time, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

I did not know Robin personally.

I enjoyed his art in comedy tremendously.
He had moments of serious acting that showed his serious side somewhat.

America is in need of artists to step up and fillthe void.

I'm really glad you posted that performance, D - it's little-known and one of his most powerful dramatic turns.

I think that what's making this extra heavy on the feels is the number of stories coming out of the good he did as a human being outside of his work. Unlike most people with that level of fame who tend to stay at one remove, he used it as a way of connecting with people from all walks of life on a personal level.

We need more like him, not fewer.

I never liked RW's work, neither as a film actor nor as a comedian. Still, this was shocking. I'm not sure why, but I hope there's a positive message, and if there is I expect it is because RW intended it. For some the unendurable world is a quotidian experience. It doesn't help to pretend to "have no idea" how that could be so.
