"It’s not an Iran-Contra or Iraq WMD or Lewinsky lie. But it’s a serious one. And he should stop trying to finesse it."-- Andrew Sullivan, 11/6/13, equating two cases of outright and unpunished Republican war-crimes and treason with a lie about a blowjob which that same Republican Party of Personal Responsibility used to impeach a Democratic president because they believe any Democratic Administration is de facto illegitimate.
In case you ever wondered how the hell Mr. Sullivan can sleep at night, this is how. By day, Both Siderism pays very well. At night, it is a soft, conscienceless place to tay one's head.
It also demonstrates for the umpteenth time that there really are two things which unite all American Conservatives from Bill Kristol and Rush Limbaugh to David Brooks and Andrew Sullivan:
- A deep contempt for Liberals, even though the "Liberals" they hate are almost entirely the product of The Imaginarium of Doctor Pernicious (and even though the critiques of Conservatism coming from the latter group sound eerily similar to the Liberal perspective on Conservatism gong back several decades)
and, - An unbreakable addiction to radically mutilating the past to justify or rationalize grievous lapses in judgement which, in any other field, would have gotten these people defrocked and run out of town on a rail.
