Don't need no damn fancy Commie gummint "grading" or "paving" or "guard rails" or "street lights"
Mr. Charles P. Pierce explains why the sequester will not only fuck private enterprise up, but will fuck up the basic building blocks that make modern private enterprise possible:
Except FreeeeDuuuuuuumb!...For almost 40 years, both deliberately and by accident, the conservative movement had run against their fanciful notions of what a command economy was, but against the notion of a mixed economy at all. They fashioned a philosophy in which private money and public money were best left apart from each other. They created a view of the how the country operates that was laissez faire in ridiculous extreme. They have convinced themselves that any mixing of public and private money is invariably destructive to the latter to the benefit of the former. (That this rarely in their minds applied to military spending is beside the point for the moment, and will continue to be, because I still believe that there is absolutely no way the defense-related sequester cuts happen.) What you are seeing now is the blank wall at the end of the ideological blind alley down which the conservative movement has frolicked since the day Ronald Reagan told us that government really was the problem....

President Obama said today he will veto any efforts to get rid of the automatic spending cuts that will be triggered by the supercommittee’s failure to reach a bipartisan solution to deficit reduction.
“There will be no easy off-ramps on this one. We need to keep the pressure up to compromise, not turn off the pressure,” the president said this evening. “The only way these spending cuts will not take place is if Congress gets back to work and agrees on a balanced plan to reduce the deficit by at least $1.2 trillion.”
Our Hope and/or Change President, trying to push through his dumbass "Grand Bargain".
There are no solutions to be found to our problems between cynical neoliberal corporatists and cynical GOP corporatists. That's where our problems come from.
The sooner we liberals learn that the likes of Obama and Rahmbo (and such as) aren't on our side, the better.

Good News: The Reptilian Party is hanging on only through shameless and extensive use of gerrymandering and voter suppression.
Bad News: The Malefactors Of Great Wealth no longer need the Reptilians, because the MOGW now control the Dinocratic Party as well.
Thunder speaks truth.
At least Drifty still allows criticism of the Mostest Greatest Wonderfullest Lightworkin'est Preznit EVAH, so apparently he has not been entirely assimilated into the Oborg Collective.
Meanwhile, some of my old Webfriends who were shrewd enough to shun the Blue Obummer Kool-Aid drank the Red Wingnut Kool-Aid instead, and became Tea'Hadar for the Wingnut Dominion. The tragic shells of their once-independent minds congregate at a site called The Crawdad Hole.
Looks like the wrist-slashers and shit-flingers are out in force these days.
I guess Pinkie Pie is okay with the "collateral damage" deaths of children due to drone strikes ordered by the Nobel Peace Prize winner.
"Nits make lice" and all that, eh?
Resistance is fertile. We will not be assimilated.

Yeah. I'm investing heavily in pearl and fainting couch futures these days.
Mar would do better to invest in whichever "defense" corporations are making drones.
Oh, and the corporations which make little coffins for the kids.
Reminds me of that great old Reagan joke: "What are the 24 scariest words that the Central American Nun heard?" A: "I'm from Ronald Reagan's Government and I'm here to repeatedly rape you, cut your tits off and nail them to that tree over there!" Boo yah.
