Priebus!

Gets taken to the woodshed.

Not to worry, though: Tom Brokaw was on-hand to try to limit the damage by throwing David Broder's mortal remains on the grenade.

What a hero.

Priapism's indignant posturing at being called out was front and center. It's too bad Matthews never knows when to shut up.

I wanted to hear the RNC chair's canned retort...
"I got nothing. If I can't lie and youse guys ain't gonna fawn over, and shill for, me, I'll just sit here and act offended by it all."

Priceless. Them "Gotcha Journalists!"

About frickin' time someone in the MSM points out the (what should be) obvious. What a nice little pick me up to start a week, before a full onslaught of Republican convention propaganda.

And even on this one moment on the erstwhile "liberal" MSNBC, the rest of the commentators pretty much jump in to defend what wonderful clothes Emperor Romney is wearing - or at least claim that the other ruler must be naked as well.

Imgaine if this sort of thing happened at (nearly every turn). One can dream.

Chris Mathews will not let anybody get in the way of the reincarnated Kennedy legacy that is the Obama administration

That was the best piece of TeeVee I've seen in a while.

The amazing thing wa - as Matthews pointed out -Priebus made another "Other" comment immediately after denying racially-charged birther nonsense.

Romney, for all his shortcomings, should stick to the script. Some one bang the gong on this one.

PS> Drifty -- Longtime reader here and your candor, attitude and sense of reality is as compelling as it is refreshing.

Good show by Tweety. His power of overtalking is put to good use for once. The republican spokes model searched his hard drive for the appropriate talking points but was found wanting. His position as the titular head of his party may be in jeopardy if he continues showing up on network teevee and gets his skinny butt kicked like he did here.

Tom, the greatest generation water carrier, must have suddenly awakened and heard his cue to retell the usual blah, blah, blah false equivalency argument. Gawd, he needs to go back to his palatial estate and gazillion acre ranch back in Montana and herd some sheep, or something.

Yes, we can take jokes. Just not your party's jokes, Reince.

And your "jokes" usually consist of racist tripe that is only "funny" to the neanderthals that form the base of the Republican party.

There is a reason we never hear about Democratic public officials having to apologize for circulating emails that equate the president and the first lady as a '70s-era pimp and a prostitute or literally comparing the first lady to a monkey.

The GOP runs on pure id. And these "jokes" of theirs just serve to dehumanize their opponents(propaganda) and reinforce the mindset of "fuck you, I've got mine because I'm better than you."

I remember, as a child in the early '60's before the days of animatronics, the penny-arcade mannequin that would jerk to life with a sudden creak six seconds after you put your nickel in the machine to render its antiquated wisdom. Brokaw. Yow.

Tom Brokaw:

"Now, I think it comes the other way, by the way, from the Democrats towards the Republicans as well".

Please, Mr. Brokaw, cite an example.

We'll all wait.

I almost expected Tweety to utter the actual words "Southern Strategy". It was still more push back in less time than any other yammering head has thrown at Rancid Prebust. I thought Brokaw was going to get the vapors! When he said "It's your garbage"..I almost felt a thrill going up my leg..or something..

One of my favorite Republican japes: "those WMD's have to be around here somewhere"...ah hah hah hah hah! GET IT??? Just a little LEVITY.

Matthews is a putz, but good for him for lacing into this talentless soulless jagoff.

I'm catching up on old podcasts (3 1/2 months backlog); nevertheless, I'm a hoarder and am hungry to learn of more good progressive podcasts.

Your 5/5/12 podcast mentioned a list of such podcasts that you put up, but I can't find it.

Would you please re-post it (ideally, put a link on the right that we can all find anytime.)

In return, here's a different list I found on the googles; it looks pretty good:

Every time Priebus opens his mouth, he manages to seem like more of a slimy little creep than he did the previous time. That's gotta be something like talent.

I think this could spell the end for RP here,

Anyone care to guess how long before he gets replaced?

They let MS fk it up for a while cause he was black and all, and it fit the message that GOP wasnt a white only party, but for RP to be this consistantly bad? nar they need a good point man out there pushing the lines.

Audience applause = WIN

Also, Michael Steele one of the guests during the first hour this morning. I wonder if he stuck around to watch the Obvious Anagram get slapped around on live TV? Better you than me, sucker!

I wonder what the criteria for becoming RNC chairman are. Not brains, obviously.

I like what Matthews tried to do, but Brokaw? Feh! The Centrism...It BURNS!!

I'm sure Priebus learned his lesson. The lesson being stick to FAUX News where it's safe.

Anonymous that's the absolute best list of podcasts out there. Kenneth Quinell did an awesome job.

You know, I was aware of the "both sides do it," and "...but the Democrats" tropes before I started listening to the Professional Left Podcast, but, man, it's really *constant*, isn't it? It has gotten to the point, now, where you can just wait for it. I was waiting for Brokaw to say it once he started speaking, and sure enough, he *had* to point out that "the Democrats too" were responsible for this tone.

I guess the birth certificate comment was a joke the same way that a Donald Trump endorsement was a joke.

I grw up middle class in new jersey. My father was a bricklayer and worked like a dog. He never pointed to any wealthy people's houses and said " if you work hard you will have a house like that one day" ....that would of been a ridicules thing to say. But I'll tell you what my father also NEVER said....he never ONCE COMPLAINED ABOUT PAYING INCOME TAXES, NEVER. Unlike the wealthy in this country, who seem to complain to everyone who will listen, about how their taxes are a burden.
