The Professional Left Podcast with Driftglass and Blue Gal

Ep 138 Mitt Flakes London!

July 26, 2012

Mitt Romney’s Olympic performance proves Blue Gal’s theory that he doesn’t want to win this election. BG poops on the Democratic Party establishment, and despairs for the ecology of the planet. Driftglass exposes a fantastic find -- Tom Friedman losing his mind when an interviewer brings up his own wealth. More at professionalleft.blogspot.com.

Listening to that MP3 of Thomas Friedman getting smacked the fuck around by the New Zealand reporter, I can say *thank you and Blue Gal so fucking much* for showing me how much nonsense F.U. Man actually makes.

I've been listening to The Professional Left for over two years. It's part of my Friday ritual, along with KCRW's Left, Right and Center.

But I disagree with something you said on last Friday's podcast, about the book It's Even Worse Than It Looks not getting much press because of its message. You said something like, a book critiquing the Left would gets tons of coverage.

Well, no.

Right now there are two books with that message, Left Turn: How Liberal Media Bias Distorts the American Mind by Tim Groseclose and The Tyranny of Cliches: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas by Jonah Goldberg, and I haven't heard a peep about either – certainly nothing like the fuss that was made over Goldberg's first, Liberal Fascism.

Maybe Groseclose and Goldberg are getting feted over on the RW blogosphere, but you'd think we'd hear something. I'm wondering if it isn't just a case of outrage fatigue. (At 107 degrees and no a/c I know I'm too hot to get mad at anybody.)

Regardless, keep up the good work.
