Stupid Shit Andrew Sullivan Says, Ctd

"It was inconceivable for me then that these people should be left to suffer and die in a country as wealthy as we are."

-- Andrew Sullivan, 06/18/12
And that is exactly what made you such a Useful Conservative Idiot for so long, Mr. Sullivan: the fact that you fundamentally did not and do not understand this country.

In this country "we" are no longer wealthy: in this country rich people and corporations are wealthy and don't much like the idea of having to pay for anything that does not directly and immediately increase their wealth and power.

Of course, implementing a plutocracy built on rich people telling the rest of the country to go pound sand was not a cause that was ever going to fly in post-Depression, post-WWII America...

...until innovators like Ayn Rand, Alan Greenspan and Ronald Reagan figured out how to take infantile selfishness, venomous hatred of any form of government as Stalinism and taxation as slavery of Nazi, and a giddy, ghoulish disregard for the fate of one's fellow humans even as your chariots roll over them into an ideology that they could sell to the inbred leftovers of the Confederate States of America.

The Conservative Movement you joined, Mr. Sullivan, never amounted to much more than oligarchs and theocrats using America's most ancient and volatile hatreds as shaped charges to methodically destroy our nation's capacity for self-government. And the day that Richard Nixon decided that the future of the Party of Lincoln depended on getting into bed with the Klan was the day American Conservatives began preparing to vote to cut their own economic throats and to use their last, gurgling  breath the to cheer for the idea of letting poor people die in the streets.

You do not understand this country, Mr Sullivan.

And I doubt you ever will.

Conservative TV out of Milwaukee just showed footage of nearby campaign stop featuring Mittens, with dimwit Teaparty-cypher Ron Johnson, still priapatic Scott Walker, and my very own congressman Paul Ryan. A crowd of primarily middle and lower income voters seemed to eat up every word. House negroes cheering on their masters and wishing to be sold down the river.

After wards, the anchors gushed that Ryan may be the VP pick. God, I hate this.

that's why I stay away from Milwaukee TV news, Vic.

Alternative headline: "Andrew Sullivan Discovers There Are Other People".

Better late than never, I suppose.

Awesome! You've said what I've been thinking for some time now. (A lot better than I could have.)

For all his perfunctory reminiscence about his fellow HIV sufferers dying, I still recall Sullivan's published preference for barebacking sex -- so, he's not the first person I'd trust to say anything coherent about need for national public healthcare.

He lost that right by being, literally, a prick without a conscience.

Where does the myth that the US wealthy come from?

By any rational measure it's the poorest country in the world.
Unfunded Medicare obligations amount to $82 Trillion, $300,000 for every man woman and child in the country.
Which other country is that indebted?
