"I was repelled from liberalism because I disliked sentimentality in politics. Politics is the business of collective solutions to collective problems, not an arena for the display of good intentions."I shall now explain American Conservatism to George W. Bush's former a speechwriter:
-- David Frum, 05/09/12
- There is no such thing as "collective" anything because, uh, Freedom!
- "Collective" is a durdee word.
- A durdee, durdee Commie word.
- David Frum said "collective".
- Therefore David Frum is a durdee Commie too!
QED
Congratulations, Mr. Frum! Your terror of the imagined "sentimentality" of Liberals drove you into the arms of the scum of this country.
Well, at least you finally woke the real nature of the monsters you have been bedding down with for the last 20 years.
20 minutes after they cut off your allowance.

Nicely done, Drifty. Very nicely done.
They are all bought-and-paid-for agents. Anti-American agents.
Or maybe they're not all bought-and-paid-for; maybe they're free agents.
Still Anti-American though.
Anyone can see that.
They are not under cover.
Any longer.
OCCUPY!
Not to worry about Mr. Frum, I fully expect to see him appointed to the Canadian Senate some day, where he will be quite at home with other Tory scum.
His sister is already there, lifetime patronage jobs, thats the conservative edge.
Nice to put that quotation under a photo of Frum grinning with Gordon "who could possibly have worse intentions" Liddy.
what a prick. it's way within the bounds of possibility to be unsentimental, and not be a complete asshole, but i guess frum never considered that angle. dickwad.
"at least you finally woke [up to] the real nature of the monsters you've been bedding down with for the last 20 years"
...When did that happen? Must have missed it. Seem's he's still repelled.
Also, David Frum, 5/9/12: "Those remain my likes and dislikes to this day. I have had no conversion experience."
So that's what it is? That's what conservatives think about liberalism, that it's all sentimentality? Wow, I need to think this through. Because yes, there's sentimentality involved--don't we identify with the downtrodden (who might be us, ourselves), and didn't we just shine a fucking light when Barack O-fucking-bama got elected?--but my liberalism is based on the fact that liberal governance creates better outcomes than conservative governnance. Well, maybe there's a lot of faith involved there, which isn't actually fact and which might actually be sentimentality, but fuck those people anyway. They want faith-based? I'll give them faith-based.
