Transit Day
Not to go Full Metal Atrios on you and give you the pace-count between various local sites of interest I slouched past and the next train station, but suffice it to say that public transit was an adventure this morning.
First, I got to sit with the Three Fates: three, tiny Hispanic ladies, the first of whom would muse a subject into existence ("Who is that on that shirt?), the second would spin it out and out and out, and, finally, the third would cut it off with a joke.
Delightful and impressive.
On the down side, a helpful suggestion to the CTA: After, say, May, you can turn the damn heat off.
Yeesh.
Riding the occasional convection oven on rails is annoying but all part of the Great Urban Adventure.
But riding a CTA Funcooker on the day when the annual Crosstown Classic is playing, the Blues Fest is kicking into high gear and everyone who wasn't en route to one of those or to work was headed downtown to celebrate the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup raised my loathing of d-bags who apply their Axe Koolaid-scented ManReek Juice with a SuperSoaker to new heights.
Ah well...
Chicago transit gloria mundi.

It's weird: everyone at the office who takes public trans either missed a train or two or at least got sardined into a bus. On the other hand, reports were that the highways were fine and the parking garages normal. Which... is sort of encouraging?
Congrats to the B'Hawks for a great playoff run and bringing home Lord Stanley's Cup!
I was there. In Chicago, that is, on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, saw the Sox beat up my hometown Tigers, then got my picture taken with Buddy Guy at the bar that bears his name. Went to the Blues fest on Friday and nearly overheated. Windy City? My ass. It was stifling there.
Thought about attending the parade, but decided against it at the last minute. Prolly a good thing---I'd have surely overheated at the festival if I had.
