In Days of Old, When Knights Were Bold...

If this doesn't make you want to grab Ewick Ewickson by his greasy ankles and use him to pound David Broder into the ground like a tent stake, then pally, you got no heart inya.

I fear it is getting to the point that these clowns, Broder, Brooks, etc. are not worth your notice, which would be a real loss for the snark/rage fetishists among us.

One hungover Sunday morning in the 80s, I'm walking down a side street with the Trib + NY Times + maybe the Sun Times under my arm. Old guy (like, my age now) walking his dog asks me why so many papers and what I like to read in each. Recognize him right away, saw him a time or two before. Sadly, despite being a huge fan even then, I can't remember saying much of anything intelligent to him. I remember petting the dog.

God, I miss reading Royko. Gilly too (opening week, FTFY). The medium can change, but talent shines through. I include you in that sentiment, Drifty.
