Q: Who do you do not want to be tonight?

A: Mitt or Hillary's campaign manager.

Dog either.

At least in Hillary's case it will probably be quick, but someone's getting strapped to Mitt's hood tonight, and it's probably going to be a cold night. Be sure not to soil yourself.

Mark Penn is not Hillary's only problem - she's surrounded herself with a lot of them. Did you see this?

Edwards Brings It Home

Update, 2:00 am Iowa Time: The bar was hopping. Bill Clinton was holding court in the lobby outside the bar with Susan Estrich holding his arm, trying to get him upstairs-- only at the same time he was engaged in a discussion with Fox News' Greta Van Susteran (who looked terrific) that ended with Clinton describing his cowboy boot collection...

After Estrich finally succeeded in guiding Clinton upstairs, I went to the bar.<<<

Let's put aside Jeralyn's word choice (how'd you like her defending you in a court room?). Susan Estrich, who has spent her recent years charming Fox News viewers, is best remembered as the brains behind the train wreck that was the 1988 Michael Dukakis campaign. If you're a Hilliary fan I'd be very concerned at this point.

I understand standing next to Sen. Clinton during her concession was a crowd favorite, the electric Madeleine Albright. Surely lounge lizard Terry McAuliffe must have been on hand too.

In a way, I hope Huckabee does get the rethug nomination. That's probably one of the few things that will guarantee that I'll actually show up to vote for Hillary. (Let's face, we'll know who the nominees will be after Stupor Tuesday.)

Why does De Niro's Capone remind me of Guiliani?

This just keeps getting better. Here's Time's Karen Tumulty commenting in a thread of hers at Swampland about the early a.m. trip from Iowa to New Hampshire:

>>>KT here--...but I have been struck by the degree to which the Clinton campaign is isolating the candidate, as well as her top strategists, from their traveling press. For instance, I've been covering campaigns since 1988, and I have never before seen one where the campaign does not allow a single reporter travel on the plane with the candidate. I'm not complaining here, just observing, but it quickly occurred to me that I would get a lot better view of this campaign by getting out of their bubble. Last night, they put Penn and McAuliffe on the press plane--a real departure--and I couldn't help but wonder (snark here) whether that was the best evidence that the two of them were getting spanked by the campaign. Normally, the only campaign official on the press bus/plane is a low-level press secretary.<<<

The one thing the Clinton campaign was doing right and now they make this change. Maybe the Clinton jalopy has enough inertia to get across the finish line but for sure there's no gas left in the tank.
