Happy Birthday, Rev.

Martin Luther King, "Why I Am Opposed to the War in Vietnam".

Could not be more timely.

I'm so, so sorry we could not stand to listen to the simple truths you had to tell.

That we could not bring ourselves to live up to our own, pretty words.

That, finally, we could not bear to let you live.

Tck... tck...

Is this thing on?

How sad is it that people think MLK was milquetoast?

What he said, what he did, what he caused to be thunk is why we honor his life with a holiday.

Then as now, those that get it, celebrate the day. Those who don't and never will see it as some commie plot.

It would be interesting to have some dedicated reporters keep track with how or if the Presidential candidates commemorate his legacy this Dr. MLK Jr. Day and repot that to the public.

I have heard it was in fact this very sermon that got him killed. If King had managed to poison the black community against the vietnam invasion and occupation, that would have had profound consequences.

It's no accident that everybody who ever attended public school since 1968 has heard the "I Have A Dream" sermon, but are astonished to hear King declaim on taking the Scripture seriously.

He specifically equates his civil rights struggle--on grounds of economic justice--with the necessity of opposing the fiasco in vietnam...

this is an amazing speech...
