Augggh!

Damn that stings.

Kirk Squirt out Horta Fetus.

And then auctions his child off for filthy lucre.

I read this on the internets early this morning, and then heard it on Air Amer before I could post, but it still cracks me up. So at the risk of being duplicative...

Shatner Sells Kidney Stone for Charity
An online casino has a piece of Capt. Kirk. Actor William Shatner has sold his kidney stone for $25,000, with the money going to a housing charity, it was announced Tuesday. Shatner reached agreement Monday to sell the stone to GoldenPalace.com.

"This takes organ donors to a new height, to a new low, maybe. How much is a piece of me worth?" he said in a telephone interview.

GoldenPalace.com is noted for its collection of oddities, which includes a partially eaten cheese sandwich thought to contain the image of the Virgin Mary.

"This is a bold new addition to our fleet," GoldenPalace.com Chief Executive Officer Richard Rowe said in a statement.

The money will go to Habitat for Humanity, which builds houses for the needy.
"This would be the first Habitat for Humanity house built out of stone," joked Darren Julien, president of Los Angeles-based Julien's Auctions, which handled the sale.

Shatner, who played Kirk on the original "Star Trek" TV show and won an Emmy for his role on "Boston Legal," passed the stone last fall.
The stone was so big, Shatner said, "you'd want to wear it on your finger."

How is that that hambone has an acting career?

I would've paid $25,000 to watch him eat it.

I think part of his charm is that he KNOWS he's a hambone, and is willing to make fun of himself a bit.

Live long and prosper, IBW

He was good in "Judgement at Nurenburg", and "Twilight Zone".

And then the ego went BOOM.

Now he's enjoying parodying himself, which is cool. I loved the last 10 minutes of "Seven" video he did, playing all the parts himself.

Very funny.

I have a kidneystone that I, as it were, gave painful birth to some years ago. It is a beautiful little crystaline beauty, not unlike a sharply facited little quartz crystal (with a subtle yellow tint) you might see mounted and worn around the neck of some desperate and clueless new ager -- which by the way, ripped the shit outta my urethra on its little (eat your heart out (W), torturous descent out, and into my wifes (unknowing) orange strainer one lovely morning before coffee, and in mystical anticipation to the mourning newspaper. So for sure I'll let it go for the price of either a new Toyota or a bottle of Iron City Beer for which I promise to donate the entire proceeds (for tax deductible purposes) to the charity of your choice. I knew I must be saving it for something.

I saw him this morning on the news. Ebay passed on it - they don't sell body parts, but I guess Golden Palace called him and offered the 25K. They apparently sweetened the deal by throwing an additional 25k in when they heard it was for Habitat. He kept saying "I just have to keep avoiding thinking about how WEIRD this is."

David Letterman had the best quip: "Everyone set their phasers to "Eeeewwww!"

My...kidneystone...it...hurtssobad.

Shatner is mocked all the way to the bank. I respect that. He gives us what we want.

Driftglass:

I agree about his performance in "Judgement" and those old TZs. He also did a first-rate job (even after playing Cpt. Kirk) in the role of the prosecutor in "The Andersonville Trial", a made-for-tv movie that was done in 1970.

If you're not already familiar with it (and it is a pretty obscure film) you ought to check out Roger Corman's "The Intruder". Shatner plays a memorably slimy character, an "outside agitator" paid to deep-six school desegregation in a small Missouri town in the early 60's. It's by far the best performance of his entire career.

It's undoubtedly a better purchase than any of his records.

I am conducting some research on various work from home sites and ran across this page.Even though it wasn't "exactly" what I was looking for, I think your readers might be interested in reading my internet marketing training home page since it signicantly reduces ones learning curve. As you know, the more information people have before spending their hard earned money -- the better. Sorry for the self promotion, just trying to get the word out while looking for sites to review. On to the next -- thanks!Steve @Car Tips
