"Over The Last Three Years..." Is The New Big Lie

Rick Wilson spent his entire adult life getting paid handsomely by the Republican party to sow dragon's teeth and generally take a dump on everything we Liberals hold dear.

Now Rick Wilson now gets paid handsomely by the "Liberal" media to bitch Very Loudly about dragons.

Even as you read this, the next Big Lie that Republicans like Rick Wilson believe will save them is being mortared into place in plain sight, brick-by-brick, and with the enthusiastic support of the Beltway media,.  And that Big Lie is that the GOP was a principled, sane political party which was doing just fine until Trump rolled into town with his Magic Meathead Mesmerizing Machine and somehow overnight transformed +60M principled, sane Republican voters into a mob reprogrammable bigots and imbeciles.

And as of now, kids, the only people standing athwart this New Big Lie shouting "Stop!" are you and me and the rest of the dirty hippie brigade who have made ourselves pariahs by committing the unforgivable sin of having been right about the Right all along.

I'm torn on guys like Wilson. On one hand I kind of enjoy watching them realize with greater and ever increasing horror how truly depraved and full of shit their former political party is. On the other hand, they deserve to be publicly humiliated, tarred and feathered for being wrong about everything for decades. They don't deserve a second of mainstream airtime to yap their "enlightened" views when true leftist journalists and commentators who have put in the years and dedication don't even get referenced on news discussions much less get invited to share their opinions. The left shouldn't let these carpetbagger commentators into the fold.

People like Wilson, Frum, Kristol, Brooks, and their ilk were not, and are not, stupid nor oblivious to the world in which they operate.

They didn't suddenly "realize with horror" etc.

They were not simply "wrong" about everything.

Their actions could not possibly have been carried out without - knowing - knowing - they were lying.

They acted consciously, cynically, and with purpose.

These hypocrites corrupted their own party on the way to killing America.

It didn't start with Trump.

It started with "I am not a crook" Nixon, who was worse than a crook.
It started with Reagan, who convinced many Americans that their own government was their enemy.
It started with McCain/Palin (yes, even Palin, and they loved her!).
It started with "corporations are people" Romney.
It started with Moscow Mitch McConnell, over and over again.
It started with George W. Bush twice, who lied us into war and who is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths, and chaos in Europe.

It started with Gingrich teaching the corruptible right wing, word for word and step by step, how to turn politics into a gang fight with no rules, where winning power was the ONLY goal, and the good of the country be damned.

It started with the phony "Tea Party" scam.

We have to reject "Never-Trumpers".

We have to reject born again "whatever happened to my poor party" Republicans. They are the same hypocritical liars, still trying to feather their own beds.

They are still lying and they think we are gullible fools. Will we be?

And it won't suddenly become sunshine and flowers when Trump is gone.

Wow, that was good. So why Anonymous? Do you work in the WH so you have to hide your identity?

Well written, you should try this 'blogging' stuff. Just don't expect to eat. I agree 100% with what you wrote and would only add something about 'burning all of the lifeboats' on the GOP yacht.
I'm of a certain age so I hear Elton John singing this to the tune of "Burn Down the Mission". I rather like it.

Tom - Thanks for the compliment. I don't work for anyone.

I sign in as Anonymous because I know a lot about the internet and the tracking that goes on. I don't like it, and prevent it as much as I can.

Hal - Thanks for your compliment, also. I don't need to blog because driftglass says what I would, and does it very well. Besides, I'm too lazy.

If I'm not mistaken, Driftglass used to say exactly the same thing on Steve Gilliard's comment threads...

my suspicion is the lil' ricky will be happy to advise the democratic party to vote like republicans..as the next go round of 'crazy' needs be planted and nurtured so the game can continue:

the game is 'who could have imagined trump?" rather than he was the logical conclusion of a billion dog whistles that they've used to grope for power.. just a bit louder.

Rick Wilson the Democracy Arsonist.

Who sets afire all within his reach. When the firetrucks arrive. He is there to admire his work.

Then he realizes now that others are setting off blazes like him. There is money to be made admiring other peoples work. But do it as a reporter who can make sounds like, "Tut-tut-tut.
Epiphany, found Jesus and got subersed in the river to wash away his past.

That he can take on a job discussing his past.

Like the GOP still contending in the impeach hearings, that Biden and Shif need to be investigated. Because it is abuse of power for Biden to get favoritism for a high paying job like Kudhner has that qualifications didn't matter. That Biden innuendo gets first line comments every time a GOPer opens his mouth. To make up for Ukraine not doing it.
How normal it is to investigate the investigator.
isn't that what they did with Ken Starr? Newter Gingrich?

Cannot retain myself. Watching hearings.

Why didn't republicans bring in Russian Ambassador Kyslyack as their Constitutional authority witness?

Johnathan Turely has some very wild and extremely odd views of our constitution.

As, it is required for impeachment for the Federal courts to rule fully in favor of the House to open impeach hearings.

In other words, Article one responsibility and authority is below the Courts and must be ordained to proceed by the courts.

strangly, Turley did not hold that opinion during the Bill Clinton.

I can only hope I never sit in front of a judge or attain a lawyer who studied under Turley.

It would be like hiring Louie Government to be your attorney.

At the risk of sounding petty, I know perfectly well the cynical ilk of Wilson, Brooks, Frum, etc and the depraved republican timeline from Nixon onward. I'd argue this strain of fascism goes back much further than that but in modern politics, Nixon is a great starting point moving through Reagan, the Bushes, Gingrich et al along with corporate money in politics and explosive growth of right wing media supporting it all. I was simply focusing on Wilson as that was the subject of DG's post. That said, the only thing I might argue with you about your response is your certainty that all of these right wing charlatans act with full awareness that they are lying. It certainly seems unlikely since most of these cretins display enough intelligence with their use of language and seeming grasp of their version of so-called facts. With intelligence you expect at least some intellectual honesty. I have a number of educated and intelligent family members who are full blown Trumpists. It boggles my mind that they can overlook obvious crimes, lies, racist rhetoric and policies but they are dye in the wool republicans and their tribalism blinds them to fact. I think these right wing commentators get paid handsomely and do the bidding their paycheck requires and over time their beliefs magically align. People like Charlie Sykes and Rick Wilson are not to be trusted and I will not be surprised in the least when a more "moderate" republican presidential nominee comes along, they climb back on board that train.

Jason said, "With intelligence you expect at least some intellectual honesty."

I beg to differ.

Your description of your own "educated and intelligent" family members (and mine) also argues against your premise.

A world where there was a connection between intelligence and intellectual honesty would be a paradise.

Alas! It is not on our planet.

I was afraid this was going to turn into some made up interview between the "grand wizards of pussy grabbing" D. Trump and Matt Lauer, moderated by Wilson, discussing the GOP standard and out of standard practices and techniques, and would they come back into fashion if Trump wasn't found guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. After all this would be about all that Wilson would be qualified to speak about.

I think guys like Rick Wilson are screaming because the new arsonists have set THEIR houses on fire, and that wasn't supposed to happen! They SET the fires, not RECEIVE them!

Hey Rick Wilson.

When Mulvaney went to the media and admitted the corrupt activiity of extorting foreign contries for personal STUF.
When Good old TeA party Republican small governmt out of the way Mulvaney ordered Americans, "To shut up and get over it".
This is what you advanced.
So like Amb. Yovonovich getting fired for not haning a picture of Trump on her wal, ( that Trump did not supply).
He fired her. This is your free market with the invisible hand that will make health care great for everyone?

Help me Rick, I refuse to put up a picture of Dear Trump Leader. Is the effort you will put up to stop Trump from fir address working rights, conditions and fair days pay for fair days labor?

When Republicans through the mouth of Trump fired a Football palyer from the Oval Office. When this greatest and smartest republican (Trump) that ever was and will be has me fired for not hanging his photo.

Will you put forth the effort of a Twitter one liner to defend me?
And would that be too much to expect from a fellow American?

Still think ol' Ricky's motives are more banal.

I think after decades of race-baiting white males to keep electorally cutting their own throats and, as he admitted to Cox two years ago, descending down among the unwashed masses as a major astroturf Tea Party organizer he expected in 2016 that the Devil to FINALLY reward with a high level cabinet post in the President Cruz Administration that he could spin into indefinite socio-economic security among the countries power elite.

And Donny fucked all that up.

So Wilson's "conversion" is not principled, but from a vengeful bitterness as an aging political operative who didn't get quite high enough not to still have a mortgage, insufficient retirement funds, and a Rolodex that becomes more useless by the day.

Rick Fucking Wilson knows where the bodies are buried. He knows where every Russian money spunk is in each state Republican Anus.

But he will not tell you.

Because that would tell on the Club. And you are not in it.

Why are billionaries freaking the fuck out over Sanders and Warren? It's because they all have consciousness of guilt of all the crimes it took to get them here. AND THE REASON TRUMP TERRIFIES THEM IS THAT HE'S DOING ALL THE CRIMES ON OPEN SOURCE COMMS! He is literally, too stupid to exist, for both traitors and domestic Silicon Valley types.

Trump has exposed the entire GOP as the Traitor Party. But I'm sure Tom Nichols and Rick Wilson will lick the smegma from the next GOP president's foreskin. And will gyrate their hips on the long dead dick of "free market" and "strong foreign policy."
