Sure, Happy New year...!
Just be warned what is coming. Our news media are addicted to the orange cancer. They a;; act like Paparazzi and Tabloid.
Bat Boy see at Mar A Lago golfing with Trump. Trump wants to buy the Moon and use Space Force to build and operate his Moon golf resort and hotel. Trump considering deal with Putin that would trade Alaska to Russia for Syria. Trump threatens executive orders to ban congress. Trump to make it a six day work week and only one day off.
Trump says. Trump seen, Trump ears dinner, Trump and Melania seen together Laura Loomer jealous and feels scorned. Mare Green says something. Matt Gaetz says things. Steve Bannon mad? As if him being mad and angry is news? Trump says he is safe because Elmo can;t take over presidency because he was born in Africa.
But wait, wait a darn second.
Trump said Obama was born in Africa and he was president??????
What I am saying is, the new year coming in is going to fill the atmosphere with with a plethora of word diarrhea that if listened to for extended periods. Barnacles will attach and form to you anal cavity and require scraping to remove.
No, Trump and his molten MAGA are not in my personal daily life. It is that they are every Damn where else.
And now with all the " I voted for him and now sort of sorry". "He said he was against globalists and nominated globalists to his white house" Farmers who voted for him didn't think Trump mean mass deportations of their immigrant field workers"
Corporation who support him for their tax breaks now upset with Tariffs. Add in the peripheral Chief Justice giving warnings of over reaching and the disdain for attacks on Judiciary. I mean why after ruling he is above the law is the Chief Justice going to swear Trump in and have him repeat the oath of office now that he ruled their is no rules.
It will not stop.
How about , Make the best of the new year as you can. Be happy in resisting. if not out right obstructing.

Some of my favorite HST writing were his columns for the San Francisco Examiner in the eighties. He wrote about the futility of trying to stop people from doing opium by quoting noted opium aficionado Samuel Coleridge:

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
(This from memory all of these years later)
"How's that for a lede, Jack? If Ronald Reagan could find a speechwriter who wrote like Sam Coleridge, he'd hire him on the spot and never mind his nasty habits."
And:
Opium is a hard habit to argue with. People like it. Every government to come to power since the Chang dynasty has sworn they would crush the opium trade, and the price of opium on the streets of Singapore is roughly the same as it was in 900BC."

This is going to be an interesting year, and many fights, some exercises in futility, are in the cards. We have to keep showing up for them though, and really, we were gonna do that anyway. Being straight, white, male and old, I am not in nearly as many crosshairs and some of us are, and I will try to remember my position of privilege for whatever that may be worth.
The goddamn Washington Post lost an editorial cartoonist today after she drew a cartoon of Mickey Mouse and the tech bro ceos bowing before a huge Trump and they refused to run it, so she quit.
Scruples are getting rare out there, but it does appear that some folks still have them.
Thank you again for the podcast. The storm has passed and there is still no snow on the ground, so our mobility is still intact. For that, we can be honestly thankful.
