Heads up for the most ironic BS I've seen, even in these days.

In The Atlantic online on Friday May 5, 2023 (today):

Headline: "America’s Lowest Standard"

Followed by:
"Try to imagine anyone like Trump surviving in any other segment of our society—business, entertainment, sports, the military."

Author: Charles Sykes

My coffee erupted from my nose!

Warmest regards to you both.

Historically and traditionally "self censorship" has gone by another name: manners. Manners are not primarily about salad fork protocols, they serve two (at least) functions. One is to serve as a tool to suppress the homicide rate as the population density increases, and the other is a form of social glue that kind of keeps the world from flying apart. Why do we tend to avoid mentioning weed and blowjobs in front of grandma, who probably knows more about both of those things than we do? Manners. Read that respect. I see a direct correlation between "self censorship" and "intelligence" most of the time. The inveighing against it is the mark of toddlerhood.
Thank you again for the podcast. Almost all of the snow has melted and it has rained for the past few days. I'll email you a picture of the cat later.
