Graham, Haley Bow To Extreme Left-Wing Pressure Groups

That slight zephyr you may have noticed wafting up from Dixieland seems to be coming from the breeze generated by Nikki "Stars and Bars now.  Stars and Bars tuh'marra.  Stars and Bars foh'evah." Haley and Lindsey "You don't need a feather boa, to know which way the wind blows" Graham doing a full bootleg 180-degree turn on the subject of the American Swastika:
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley Calls for Removal of Confederate Flag From State Capitol
Looks like somebody gave Lindsey Graham and Nikki Haley's leash a tug.  Of course, if you dig down one inch and you find the governor's actual statement was an entire word-salad bar of grudging non-apology apology.  The kind of Both Siderist double-talk which wingnuts will offer up when they are absolutely cornered and have no other cards left to play:
...
That changed, though, at the press conference on Monday in Columbia, where Mrs. Haley said, “the hate-filled murderer who massacred our brothers and sisters in Charleston has a sick and twisted view of the flag.”

“In no way does he reflect the people in our state who respect and in many ways revere it,” she said.

Mrs. Haley also acknowledged the divisive nature of the flag, saying some see it as a symbol for “traditions that are noble, traditions of history, of heritage and of ancestry,” while others see it as a “deeply offensive symbol of a brutally oppressive past.”

“As a state we can survive, and indeed we can thrive as we have done while still being home to both of those viewpoints,” Mrs. Haley said. “We do not need to declare a winner and a loser here.
...
Still, baby steps.

Also, Governor Haley, for the record, America already declared a winner and a loser here.

It happened 150 years ago.

And a whole lot of the people who make up the base of your despicable party --

CONS

-- have never gotten over it.

One of the USA's biggest problems is that the Confederacy only lost the war.

In many ways, the CSA won the peace.

Indeed, the godzillion apologia for the CSA stand as the greatest challenges to the aphorism which states, "The winners write the history books."

Note: A "godzillion" is a number the size of Godzilla. ^_^

I'll take "deeply offensive symbols" for $1,000 Alex.

I guess all those decades of Klansmen, lynch mobs, tea party bigots, et al proudly carrying the flag as their standard was just a huge misunderstanding.

The interesting thing is that the so-called Confederate Flag is not that.
It is the Confederate Battle Flag, which I think gives the game away right there.
The actual Confederate Flag is a much more more mundane affair with a design similar to the American Flag - couple of red and white stripes (3 v. 13) and stars in the upper left-hand corner representing the states. Just Google it.

I grew up in the South and I never knew about the real flag or ever saw one.
So these knuckle-dragging history heritage fanatics don't even know their own history (oh, excuse, do not accept real history, evolution or climate change, my bad).

Also, drifty, brilliant stuff there with the McCain-Graham tete-a-tete.
