It's 6am in Denver and Driftglass has already won the internet for today. Fcking perfect!
By the way, congrats on getting out of Chicago. We finally sold our house in Lombard after 9 months on the market. At a loss. Wheeeeeeee. At least it's done and I get to look at purple mountains majesty out my back windows every morning without worrying about every major storm blowing up to Lake Michigan.
The greatest thing was, that no matter what happened to the red shirt (vaporized, shot, or my personal fav..dehydrated in to a cube and crushed to dust by hand) the full acknowledgment of their passing was usually at most, a temporary pained expression on the Captain's face. By episodes end, all was laughter and relief on the bridge as they moved on to the next planet. Yep...I can feel that here...

DAMN IT, JIM...I'm a doctor*, not a President.
[*Where "Doctor"=One who doctors the past, or at least tries to.]
Damn it, Jim, I'm a DOCTOR*, not a President.
[*Where Doctor=Verb transitive, To alter or change something, generally with the intent--if not the result--of improving it.]

Live long and prosper, Drifty.
If any of my fellow Trekkies out there have not yet read John Scalzi's novel Redshirts, I recommend it. ^__^
