Tom Waits Steps Aside this Friday

For this timely reminder that free network teevee is not actually contractually obligated to vomit out nothing but sump water in a frosty mug.

That in their natural state, the airwaves are more or less empty, and actual effort is required to pack them to the gunwales with nothing, nothing, nothing but incompetent journalists, endless flat-affected prettycops endlessly chasing genius sociopaths, stuff-em-in-a-jar-and-shake-em-up "gimme sum fookin munnies!" reality and prize shows.

And, of course, pledge drives.

And at no additional charge to you, "Homicide" also came with a free lesson for the weaker, gooier members of the Democratic Party who believe that we can deal with the fascists in our midst and in our government by compromising with them.

That we can somehow triangulate ourselves out of the abyss and into being a just and honorable nation.

Not a chance.

The only way to get the country back, upright and strong is to tell the GOP -- every god damn day and in no uncertain terms --

to get the fuck off of our corner.

From the Oval Office to the little box with wires, the world as we see now is emphatically not the world as it always must be.

It is worth remembering that, with few good writers, a little cash and a loose leash you really can sometimes get Munch and “G”. Bayliss. Fucking Pembleton. Kay. Meldrick and his goofy lid. Barnfather. Bolander. Beau. Crosetti.

And all the rest.

You can have Boom, Boom, Boom.

All night long.

Frank. Phuckin. Pembleton.

My wife and I were spellbound every night, on the couch, snugglin.

Great show. Frank was a hoss.

TV, and life, sadly, are much watered down, since.

And MUNCH, for god's sake, is taking over Randi Rhodes slot at AA?

The Greens have proven they bought a losing network to keep progressivism off the air.

Fuck AA.

Randi, bless her heart, and here's the fuckin irony, is on the air with NovaM. Founded by the two sisters who ORIGINALLY founded AA.

And Randi is now at home with Mike Malloy, and I THINK, Thom Hartman, too? AA folks in all?

And the KILLER irony, and issue to watch for is, Randi is on SF's 960Am Green, a fuckin CLEAR CHANNEL owned and operated station!!!!

The Facists are runnin a whackaloon (credit PhysioProf) PROGRESSIVE station in SF?????

And they will let RANDI PHUCKIN RHODES ON IT????

God bless them two whackaloon sisters who for the LIFE of me I can't racall (Greg Palast podcasts refer to them) tried AA, and are now NovaM, and WTF, Clear Channel let's Randi Rhodes on ITS airwaves?

Who put the phuckin mescaline in my merlot? I GOTTA be dreamin . . . . ;-)

Damn, yer good, hoss . . . . how you DO that?

Latin Swing, with Yaphet Frederick Kotto, and the afore all mentioned.

Yer The Boom, Drifty.

I forget this shit faster than you bring it back, with more meaning than I knew of it, then.

I HATE that. '-)

Homicide, or as I used to call it, "Watch-and-Learn Acting School."

My favorite part was Pembleton and Bayliss grilling some perp in 'the box'. Best cop show ever.

Yes, best cop show ever. I know folks like The Wire. But they just don't know.

They don't know.

(Pembleton in the box. THAT'S teevee.)

Yeah, Homicide going off the air was a loss. But it did free up its producer to do Oz for HBO, a helluva prison drama with its own deep set of characters.
Frank Pembleton. Shit, please, I'll just go ahead and confess, just please don't let him take me in the box.

I'm a little late, but thought I'd chip in and mention that you've just given me yet another reason to think of you as a kindred spirit (if only I had your way with words...).

Worth mentioning that Homicide also featured Tim Russert (in a guest appearance visiting his fictional cousin Megan Russert) in the days before he drank the Kool-Aid and became a Beltway Conservative Fellatiotron.
