Attention Bulwark Associates:

Next week's regular Bulwark staff meeting has been moved from the break-room to The Yard - Coworking Office Space a couple of miles down the road.

Also it will now be called the Very Big Important Conference on True Conservatism National Summit on Principled Conservatism

Fun Fact:  This Bulwark True Conservative staff meeting was relocated to counter-program against the CPAC True Conservative Hog Calling Contest, both of which are being counter-counter-programmed by Michelle Malkin's True Conservative “America First Political Action Conference" for those who prefer their racism cask-strength, no chaser and who think Charlie Kirk is an establishment sellout.

We now join the National Summit on Principled Conservatism "Dammit, We're The Real True Conservatives!" breakout session already in progress...

I Want Just Enough Socialism To Make Charlie Sykes Weep Tears of Blood

Charlie Sykes is a GOP zombie and for him to "weep tears of blood". He is going to have to eat a live person to get that blood in his system to weep. That is if zombies are capable of weeping?

Charlie devoted his life to bringing us the fascism, dictatorship or what you want to call it.
When his endeavors materialized. He thought there would be rewards in the hell he helped create. Sykes lost hos influence with his horde of GOP zombies when they became so hungry for human flesh, including his.
This is what MSNBC considers valuable resume to speak on politics to anyone on national TV.

For some reason someone thinks what comes out of Sykes's mouth on politics is what viewers (Americans need to hear?
Sure, a failed hate radio loserm who could not preach hate hard enough to his hate hungry Zombie listeners anymore?

As if Sykes on the TV saying Rump is bad is so more palatable than say a Micheal more saying it?
The will cycle this crap on a scheduled basis. It is about time for Johah Goldberg to renew his Heritage Foundation first big promoted article of how smart and intelligent the
right Wing can polish in their labs to market to us.
His first story of,
How if only the North would have purchased all the slaves of the south. The Civil War would have been avoided. Ignoring the unlimited source of aquiring slaves to repllenish
And goes on to give another example of his fine studied conclusions to back up his slave purchase out of existence theory With,
The murdering of elephants for selling the Ivory of Tusks black market would collapse if only people would buy the Ivory that would fund the AG market of elephants to be bred like chickens which would preserve the existence of elephants from disappearing from the planet.

Folks like Sykes has never put forth any valuable notions, thoughts of journalistic value or bright ideas or clarifying descriptions. But he has sold something he claims to have to add to the public monitor to the executives that purchase his dung. Somehow it is the NYT/ Brooks virus without a cure.

Bernie sweeps Nevada! From early reports, it's an absolutely crushing victory over """moderates""", and it feels so goddamn good. The howls of hostile (MSNBC) pundits as they're in full retreat from the field, good shit. Especially good; the media's Bernie Bro narrative imploding, as Bernie has the most diverse coalition of any candidate. Now that we're finally approaching states with people who aren't white in them, that's going to tell, and it's going to tell hard.

The only question now is how much the establishment will sacrifice to try and stop him. Only to still fail! And then we can finally move on to beating the absolute fuck out of the real enemy, Orange Man Bad. Who's going to lose so bad, he's going to get tired of losing, but no, he'll lose even more than that.

I spoke with my parents yesterday. Good Democrats. Farmers. In the Real America. Educated. Retired. Watch the news, don't listen to AM-Hate Radio, they do like NPR and PBS Newshour and DFB on Fridays. To a great extent they trust the authority of the anchorman, the authority of fair-minded balance, the importance of calm and the call to moderation in all things.

"Bernie Sanders will do the same thing to the Democratic Party as Trump has done to the Republican Party."

What is that, I asked? He will cow Nancy Pelosi into investigating his personal enemies? He will put children in cages, and force Chuck Schumer to quash any hearing? He will pardon war criminals - from what war?

He will do it without the full-throated support of two or three national media platforms, and the complicity of all of the others?

He will appoint marxist-leninist judges (from which Law Schools, firms and courts?) over the juggernaut of Chuck Schumer's Senate (assuming it is a Democratic majority)?

He will control the Democratic caucuses to the point that he can annex Greenland in order to force the rest of America to accept the Danish welfare state? Or Canada without Nancy Smash saying WTF on MTP?

"No, he will tear the Democratic Party apart. Turn it into a cult. Like Trump did to the Republicans."

The Republican Party has been a cult looking for a leader my entire life. The party is the same as it has been my entire life. Now, they are just saying the quiet parts out loud.

"No, I do not believe he will sign any legislation Speaker Pelosi puts on his desk." "He's as bad as Trump. And Elizabeth Warren, I don't like her. I don't trust her, either. She's no better than Sanders."

They got this from somewhere.

Hey Anon,

Your parents have every right to be who they are. Have their opinions . They have their vote and I have mine.

I for one do not vote out of FEAR. There is NO perfect candidate. Never has been.

Your story makes me wonder why they delve in future , What if Omens? Maybe they may consider Sanders has been a senator for quite some time, He held local positions in his state of Vermont as well. I see no tear downs or beat downs of the Democratic party over these years from him.
There is no Accused Omen" they raised Sanders can be pointed at to claim he would do all those scary things they fear.
We see a lot of people for many variety of reasons behind the very good assortment of Dem Candidates.
Oddly, the fears you say they have of Sanders destroying the Dem party are exactly much of the rhetoric from what you state your parents do not entertain?

Here is the question I have,
If there is more people who vote, giving Sanders the delegates to win the primary. They won't vote for hi,? They will vote for Trump or not voting which is what the GOP would want?
What I did not hear from your talk from your parents is , who they favor in the primary.
Most of all, Why they want that candidate? What do they think they can expect and what is it of their policy platforms makes sense and why?

There is NO Democratic candidate that I can see or who has stubbornly professed they would veto any legislation that would improve health care . Yes, that goes for Medicare for all Bernie.
As a senator who was there during the ACA creation. Bernie worked for it and voted for it. He wanted more but it wasn't viable or realistic at the time and again, he voted for the ACA that was not Medicare for all.
How is that for principles?
I can guaranty Bernie will not propose Social Security or Medicare cuts in a President Sanders budget.
If your parents "believe" this. If they have judged a final verdict on Sanders. They will vote how they will. It is odd that they seem as you speak of them. If Sanders wins the nomination (hasn't yet_ Are they that closed minded and judgmental of him/ Warren too. Not to listen to the General candidates compelling campaign to them to appeal their prior judgement?

I am curious, did you ask your parents how they feel about Tulsi for president? How Biden thinks he could get McConnell to work bipartisan with him as president, "just like the old days". Days of yore , your parents may think exists today?

I am just glad that your parents are interested enough to scrutinize how they vote and that they do?
As for me, I am in a state that will primary vote only after the bulk of delegates are dealt out and the winner is plain to see.

Just remember, what would destroy the Dem party is after 4 years of Trump, ERic Trump runs for president with the GOP and Donny Jr runs for president as a Democratic candidate.
How is that for the fall of the Roman Empire?

Robt,

It is unclear who they would vote for in the General, or who they will vote for in the upcoming primary. They question now whether they could vote for (let alone volunteer as in years past) for Bernie or Liz.

My point, to be brief, was that these two life-long Democrats, who volunteered for Hillary in a neighboring swing state 4 years ago, and actively supported John Kerry, and Barry O in each of their campaigns, now are dispirited and despairing. They are unmotivated to work for Bernie or Liz because they have been convinced that they are both radical lefties hell-bent for leather on the destruction of the Democratic Party.

My question was - where did they get this idea?

My Hypothesis is that they have been infected by the David Brooks/Chris Matthew's cult of infinite reasonableness. The old idea that anchormen and broadcasters are the voice of reason themselves - not transparently partisan hacks - because no News organization of any merit would employ transparently partisan hacks. PBS wouldn't hand over half of its commentary to DFB if he wasn't worth considering.

Lost in this is the problem that Sanders and Warren are less radical than Eisenhower in their taxation schemes and more restrained than Truman and Roosevelt in terms of work, Health care, wages and Retirement rights.

The political Spectrum has been so recast these past four years that Trump's authoritarianism, his nascent fascism (he has learned he can get away with it) are the New normal right, and then Bernie and Liz must be by default as far to the left in just the same way - also, a matching pair of Stalins. The only People left in the "middle" are by no definition centrists or moderates, but must be more reasonable than 'either Extreme.'

Would my parents vote for Bloomberg, would they vote for Buttigieg or Klobuchar? Probably, but it is unclear why. They are sickened by stop-n-frisk. Mayor Pete and Sen. Klobuchar haven't made much of an impression. Joe, they find sadly uncompelling this time around - like every time before.

Anon....

I can only imagine FDR getting elected during a time of great wealth above the law and above the constitution. How folks of that day voted for the Wealthy FDR and gave him a chance and FDR had a lot of hate incoming and a lot of his own rhetoric.
How confusing that must have been.

I think any fault of lack of enthusiasm for Biden, Amy, Mayor pete ETC.. Is the fault lacking from their campaigns. The Democratic party saw it fit to allow Sanders to run as a Democratic candidate as well as Bloomberg. How does your parents reconciled that? When it comes to D. Party destruction.?
Like Mayor Pete speech after Nevada on how he is the only one that can bring people together, by getting the tribes to join and support him and that Bernie or Bloomberg are extremes and no one will vote for them. Did not materialize in Nevada primary vote for his efforts to bring people together and win big and bring everyone in. To my surprise Sanders did win the young, the old, the moderate and the progressives. He also won the 10 thousand first time voters. I am not trying to persuade here. Just saying and I wait for Super Tuesday and my primary vote can only add to a win that already occurred.

I would not wring hands over your parents. It is the primary and we all have choices to make. It is time to make your own choice. The General election will present a choice between two candidates for president.
This will no doubt change their scrutiny of candidates.

It sounds like they are seriously doing their civic duty to vote. Sometimes we all over think out the down the road conditions.
I know one thing, all the horrible fear that Sanders will lose because he is a socialist which Trump calls a communist although Trump is passing out socialism to farmers as he stepped in with big government and cause their financial hardships because republican farmers asked Trump to Defy Reagan the other GOP God over, "I am from the government and I am here to help". Reagan's/ GOP's most scariest words, remember?
Trump affection for Putin (helsinki) that he believes Putin over America. Does not give Trump the credible holy ground to call Bernie a communist.

I think your parents have reasonable concerns and seem skeptical enough to keep the weds out of their lawn (metaphorically speaking).

Do me a favor.
Drop a line here when the General election formally begins and let me know how your parents are viewing their choices.
