Because one of the most consistent gravitational forces at play since the election of President Stupid has been the persistent, hypnotic mantra which Never Trumpers repeat over and over again that "Trump is a freak occurrence. Trump not a real Republican." And in the face of that well-funded, media-enabled, memory-killing narcotic drone, Rove arrives like a hot cup of coffee to the face --

Karl Rove is just doing what Newt Gingrich always does. Even though both men had a brief period of success followed by many, many public failures, they both know that to stay relevant and maintain good standing on the right is to just go on TV and "own the libs" by saying some obnoxious, patently false, and/or blatantly hypocritical stuff. And the more obnoxious, false, and/or hypocritical their statements are, the more play it will get on the left and among fact-checkers and the more attention they will get. That's why Newt will complain that the Democratic impeachment of Trump is ruining Christmas when he knows full well he impeached Clinton right around Christmastime in 1998. Maybe we should just stop offering these guys free press and stay focused on the current generation of lying, hypocritical Republican douchebags, what with the fact that they still have the power. Newt and Karl don't have the power to nuke hurricanes but sadly Donald Trump actually does.

I remember well that Christmas....I was on a cruise down the Mexican coast, with the in-laws, and I spent half my time in my cabin, watching the hearings, and desperately hoping for a Christmas miracle, that the Republicans would feel the spirit of the season, and be like Scrooge. But to no avail, my prayers to the CHristmas angels.
