Chuck Todd Is God Damn Sick Of All The God Damn Both Siderism Goin' On 'Round Here!

Of course you know there this is going.

From me, less than two years ago...

From the Today Show:

And Michael Steele -- whose role in the Republican Party was explained eloquently by Malcolm X here -- loves some false equivalence for breakfast, lunch and supper more than Paula Deen loves butter

But nowhere was the Big Beltway Both Sides Lie more in evidence than on the once-respectable Christopher L. Hayes teevee show where the con-artist formerly known as the Southern Avenger took the floor to explain that the best way to deal with the white supremacists who have taken over the Party of Lincoln was to ignore them, and that (per the video above, h/t Crooks & Liars) all this reckless ginning up of racist rhetoric was the fault of...

...wait for it...

...the Left and the Right!

So if you've ever wondered how in the world every single fucking bigot and gutless "independent" in Christendom all learned to reflexively bark out the identical alibi -- "But Both Sides..." -- every single time another Republican atrocity is laid at their feet, now you know.

They learned by watching teevee.  By reading the newspaper.  By listening to the radio. By hearing the same, despicable like repeated by respectable men and women everywhere.

Because without the Big Beltway Both Sides Lie, the Beltway media would be unable to function. Which is why they have to work extra hard to manufacture ever more bullshit rationalizations every time reality threatens to derail their morally-bankrupt gravy train.  Which these days is every god damn day.

Behold, a Tip Jar!

And we have a journalist and dean of the local J school coming to lecture...uh I mean speak to our Dem district meeting tomorrow evening. I fully expect the following:

"You Democrats need a message!"

"You Democrats need to connect with Trump supporters!"

"You Democrats need to avoid FAKE NEWS!"

"You Democrats need to support the Free Press unstintingly and uncritically! Democracy is at stake!"

I predict:

Nothing about Russia

Nothing about voter suppression.

Certainly nothing resembling a mea culpa about the MSM's shoddy performance the past, oh four decades or so.

I base it on prior experiences with reporters speaking to Dem groups since the 2016 election. I don't expect her to welcome questions from the audience about any of that, either. They never do.

When he says "so many pols rationalize their own questionable behavior", he's really saying "so many pols on both sides rationalize their own questionable behavior".

Chuck should spend more time with Hewitt and Alex Jones.

There is nothing but one side to them.
And it is their extreme bad sides at that.

I completely know the Todd ill feelings.

Because I get that same nauseous feeling from patient zero Todd.

After all the free media to Trump during election and the specifics of negative attention to HRC. The media has already admitted their unstoppable addiction that effected the election.
How they so reflected in their hype and ratings.
The, "go to the empty podium waiting for Trump arrival and until then talk about Trump" syndrome.

It is what they are repeating only with Rudy in Trump's behalf.

The empty podium awaiting Rudy. Talk about Rudy in the mean time. When Rudy shows up. let him talk. Disagree maybe ever so slightly but with the respect he gives no one else.
Does Rudy really raise their ratings?

yes, I'd go with the last para. You watch the shows and wonder WTF, are they supporting dump and his racism, given some of their "guests". Its like a t.v. show for lousy debates and those with bad manners. The media is just as much a part of the problem as the racists.

Sometimes I think you and Krugman collaborate to write a great column for the NYT.

Don't get me wrong, but your regular prose, whole engaging and honest, is a bit, um, strong for The Grey Lady.
