David Brooks: Why So Serious?

The internet beatdown continues.

Lawyers, Guns and Money:
Searching for Meaningful Meaning with David Brooks
 The New Republic:
What Is David Brooks's Purpose?
And one for the ages from The Concourse:
I Don't Think David Brooks Is Okay, You Guys
It is a strange thing to see large publications with big readerships and paid writing staffs begin to notice just how influential and detached from reality Mr. Brooks has become.  Like watching a ship you have spent years prototyping finally getting built...

...and being left at the dock as it puts to sea.

(Artwork suggested by Blue Gal and once it was in my head the only way for it to get outta there was through my keyboard)

Oh my god, that picture...

You're a monster, you know that?

In a good way, I mean.

Members of the elite club can't attack anyone in the club. They'll get kicked out. People who are outside the club can make the attacks but they will be ignored until the cumulative effect damages the authority of the club member. Then the other club members feel comfortable turning on their former elite.

However they cannot acknowledge the person who actually did all the work because their former silence makes them look out of touch and/or complicit. This knowledge must spring anew. And they must ignore the peon who did their work for them while they safely accumulated wealth and waited for someone else to do their job. For free.

I am not accusing Berneko of this; he seems to write about sports and maybe just wrote about Brooks at a pivotal moment.

I do believe you've outdone your Ted Cruz Joker Photoshop.

If we're suggesting Brooks photoshops, how about Brooksie as the new hipster Hamburgler? Got to be good for something

Good morning, Mr. Glass.

As someone who knows a wee bit about Photoshopping...getting rid of the original tattoos on that pic must've been "fun".

Enjoy your weekend.

The palpably crushing weight of DB's self-absorption, on display for all to see. I'd rather read Archie Comics . . .

I understand your sentiment, but I fully support the right of every American to call David Brooks a fussy pissbaby.

The Slacktivist disassembles Mr. Brooks. With particular attention to the "conversation of purpose, morality, meaning, etc."
