You Can't Say You Weren't Warned

Crackpot billionaires and fascist front groups shoveling bales of shady cash into the campaigns of eager, dimwit ciphers who will do their insane bidding?

20 years ago, Stuart Best was comedic fiction.

20 years later, he is the GOP's default setting and the Republican Supreme Court's vision of the American political ideal.

"eager, dimwit ciphers"..........if you mean Louie Gohmert and Jim Inhofe, just say so. Actually the list is way too fucking long.

Who could have truly predicted that anything that nuts would actually come to pass? The only difference is now they don't even have to say where all the cash is coming from.
How we escape a fascist future at this stage is anyone's guess.

My favorite example is Brazil, a dystopian fantasy in 1987. How were we to know that it was a dire warning from thirty years in the future, and how the fuck did Terry Gilliam know?

Nice bandoneon music, though; I adore Astor Piazzolla.
